Seachtain na Gaeilge
Bhí spraoi agus spórt againn!

Curriculum Evaluation—English
As you know the school inspector visited the school on Thursday 21st March to observe the
teaching and learning of English within the school. She spent time in all classrooms and was very
impressed by the high standards shown. She engaged with pupils and again complimented their
confidence and ability in the area of English. A huge amount of work went into the day so we
sincerely thank the school staff and the pupils. The official report will issue in the coming weeks
but overall we are very happy with how the day went.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
This year we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge in school from the 4th—15th of March. We
marked the occasion in school with a number of events and we encouraged the children to make
a special effort to use their Gaeilge in school and at home during that week. Thanks to
everyone who came along to our céilí– it was a really enjoyable morning and the children put on a
wonderful performance. Maith sibh!

Swimming
Swimming classes will begin today, Monday, April 8th for 1st-6th class. The lessons will run for
the next 6 weeks. The cost of this is €60 or €10 per week per child. Thank you to everyone who
has paid to date. We look forward to seeing the progress!

Green School News

The National Spring Clean will take place in the school in April, when the children will be busy
giving our school and gardens a spring clean. Keeping our school litter free is a whole school
community effort; thank you for your cooperation. The children will also be involved in planting
flowers in our window boxes.
As the weather improves we encourage as many children as possible to participate in our WOW
(Walk on Wednesday).
The application for our 7th Green Flag has been submitted and we await news.

Enrolment
We were delighted to have our 7 new junior infants and their parents visit the school for our
Open Evening in November. We look forward to welcoming them to the school again in June for
our Teddy Bears’ Picnic.

Good Weather and School Uniform

Parents are reminded that full school uniform must be worn up until the end of the year; as
agreed all jumpers and tracksuits should be plain/logo free, except for school crest. Children
are allowed to wear blue/grey shorts and sunhats if we have good weather in the coming
weeks/months. Please ensure that children are wearing sunscreen before coming to school to
protect against sunburn.

Wellbeing Week
The promotion of wellbeing in our schools is central to the Department of Education’s mission to
enable children and young people to achieve their full potential.
We look forward to celebrating our annual ‘Wellbeing Week’ from the 15th-19th April. The week
will include a range of activities to promote and encourage the mental ,physical and emotional
wellbeing of the students. We will include some healthy eating initiatives ,art activities, yoga and
mindfulness and our spring clean/ planting as part of our environmental awareness.
