In today's class, you will learn how to use Superlative Adjectives


Superlatives show the differences between more than two nouns:
people,
places or things.
For example:
Tom is the tallest in this group.
My grandpa is the oldest person I know.
Superlative Adjectives are divided into four groups.
Let's take a look.
One syllable adjetives or short adjectives use the following structure:
"The"
plus "adjective"
plus "est"
So we say:
Cheap
the cheapest
Fast
the fastest
Short

Bright
the brightest
For example:
The Nile is the longest river in the world.
Please, be careful with Spelling!
When an adjective finishes in a vowel plus consonant,
we double the last consonant.
Big
the biggest
Hot
the hottest
Fat
the fattest
The elephant is the biggest animal in the zoo
Complete the sentences using the correct superlative adjective.

Number two:

Number three:
Egypt is one of the oldest countries in the world.

With this group of adjectives we use: "the most"
For example:
Boring
The most boring
Beautiful
The most beautiful
Intelligent
The most intelligent
Interesting
The most interesting
Amelia is the most beautiful woman in town.

Number three:
John is the most generous of all the people I know.

When the adjective ends in "Y",
we replace the "Y" by "I" and add "est".
For example:
Lazy
The laziest
Early
The earliest
Pretty
The prettiest
Cozy
The coziest

Irregular adjectives are the ones that don't follow any rules.
