Role Title: Art and Technology technician Full Time, Hrs in line with Stat requirements

Typically reports to Director of PEXA Director of Vocational Learning

Purpose of the role (job statement) To assist the Governors and Headteacher in creating, establishing and delivering a vision for the school to ensure that every child succeeds. To provide technical support equally to the School of Peforming Arts and School of Vocational Learning, by preparation of tools and learning materials for lessons and displays. To undertake a practical health and safety role for each department. Principal Responsibilities The person appointed, in addition to carrying out key duties particularly assigned by the Headteacher, 1. Assist in the implementation of the aims and objectives of the school. 2. Maintain and develop the distinct ethos and character of the school in accordance with the directions given by the Governors and subject therto direction given by the Headteacher. 3. Be as visible and accessible as possible throughout the school day to provide encouragement and support for students learning and, drive an ongoing focus on the schools distinctive ethos and high expectations. 4. Draw up and maintain inventorys for PEXA and Vocational learning. 5. Maintain resources and keep stock records, provide advice/order re materials via Director of Academic School authorisation. 6. Prepare materials for lessons as requested by teaching staff using appropriate machines, tools. 7. Carry out day to day requests via technician request system. 8. Demonstrate methods and techniques for learning purposes to students as directed by teaching staff. 9. To ensure each teaching and storage space is tidy and clean. To liase with Site Services if cleanliness falls to an unacceptable level. 10. To be responsible for the safe storage of all equipment and tools. 11. To ensure student work and unused materials are stored safely. 12. To assist with the creation of displays of student work, learning materials. 13. To carry out checks on all equipment before student use to ensure safety, reporting hazards to the Director of school, the teacher and site manager. 14. Ensure Department 1st aid boxes are stocked. 15. To arrange for inspection of tools and machinery. 16. Carry out any other duties commensurate with the grading of the post as directed by the Headteacher The postholder is entitled to a break of reasonable length in the course of each school day. Contribute to developing an extra curricular/extended school programme. Contribute to strategies allowing students to make a positive contribution to the school and wider community. Support the work of teachers/support staff in running clubs and activities Indicative qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience y y y y y y Will hold Minimum GCSe C+ qualifications/equivalent in Maths and English A relevant vocational, or Degree level qualifications desirable. Will have evidence of skills in engaging, motivating and inspiring young people aged 11 -16 to learn. Will have evidence of impact of working in a team environment and particularly with young people who face challenge or attachment issues. Will have emotional resilience, be calm under pressure, persistent, punctual, reliable, trustworthy and committed to inclusive education.
