of the Government. The
main task of the Senate is
considering bills

Representatives. The
Senate makes only
limited use of its right to
scrutinize the work of the
Government.

Activity 4:

1. What are the qualifications of the members of the judiciary?

Must be a natural-born Filipino citizen, at least 40 years old, must
have been for 15 years or more a judge of a lower court or
engaged in the practice of law in the Philippines, od proven
competence, integrity, and probity.
2. Compare and contrast these qualifications with those of the
members of the two other branches of the government. What are
your observations?
Judiciary should be at least 40 years old while the Senator and
House of Representatives should be at least 35 years old. Also,
one of the qualifications of the members of Judiciary is engaged in
the practice of law, which relates to their job. While the senators
only need to know how to write and read, too lame. Same goes
with the House of Representatives. Almost all job in this world
requires a degree, while our senate doesn’t, that is why our
government is full of corrupt.

We cannot forever stay ignorant about our justice system.

Because this help protects the innocent, convicting criminals, and
providing a fair justice process to help keep order across our country. In
other words, it ensures the safety of our citizens. Our justice system is

known to be one of the “slowest” if not the slowest in the world. But
that is the case we’re facing, our justice system, unfair justice system.
Cliché, the one who has power and money gets the justice they want,
while the others can’t even get the rightful justice for them. A lot of
people who are a victim of lies and power, were imprison. Punished by
the things they didn’t even do. And it takes months or so, for a lawyer
to help them freed, because of lack of evidence. And sometimes they
passed away inside the prison, somewhere they don’t belong, without
getting their justice. And those people who are seeking justice for their
relatives and loved ones are struggling because of the money they need
to spend. Powerful and rich people can easily get away from they
wrongdoings. Some people in the position protecting their family from
their misdeed and illegal businesses. A lot of lawyers were killed for
their honesty, for fighting what is right. Crime witnesses that were
kidnapped and never seen alive anymore, but their dead body and
skeleton. It was easy for them to kill, so they can get away from it. Just
like the victims of war on drugs, that were killed. Some police do
planting of the evidence, and it’s disappointing, because they should be
the one who stop crimes. But, to think that all cops are good is too
ideal. Even, their job is to protect citizens and fight crime. Some of
them have the opposite principles, that’s one of the causes of
injustices. Poverty causes some people to rob or steal from someone so
they could survive the day. And of course, it’s a crime, they’re needed
to be arrested. Kidnapping, Hold aping, and even killing to have a little
amount of money to feed their family. They can’t have decent job,
because of lack of education that they couldn’t afford. No company
want them, waitering or dishwasher is hard for them to find. And the
money they could get from it is too small for a one big family. The thing
is illegal things is easier to do, easy money for them. They choose doing
that because its more convenient to them. But a crime is a crime, they
must be punished and learn. However, if you think about it carefully,
our government is one of the causes of poverty. How they govern
affects the whole nation either in good or bad way. Sadly, not all official
have a good intention. Their power and connection can be use in illegal
things, that might be unseen by normal citizen like us. The only way is if
the other branch of the government investigate about them. That’s also
their other role, each branch of the government, to check on each
other. And sometimes it takes too long, that it’ll be forgotten, and they
can easily get away. They even make front to hide the ugly truth. Every
law they make, could affect our living. Every crime that is buried must
be digged, to prevail rightful justice. Injustice was widespread and have
taken so may lives. We all know that this kind of case, were
manipulated by those people who are in high rank. Those people that
we are hoping that will make our living better. Rich, powerful or not can
be a cause of injustice or can do injustice. It’s a choice we make,
individually. That could affect the life of a lot of people. We all know
our history that we must learn from it and embrace it. The no ending
cycle of injustice, must be stop. And it will all start from our self, protect
ourselves. And if the school only educated us about academics. And
skills we’re being trained to use in the future. Do you know who are
sitting in a high positions: learned monster, skilled psychopaths,
educated illiterates. Educated yourself with compassion and empathy,
one of important things in our life. Be human.
