Guided Practice: WRITTEN WORK 3
1. Literary Genre: Twitterature
Explanation: By definition, twitterature is any literary text that only contains less than or equal to 280 characters. It is evident that it was written on Twitter on the given literary text, as the layout looks exactly from Twitter. On the first tweet, it is only six characters. On the second, it contains 127 characters. And the third tweet includes 128 characters. Therefore, the text is considered as twitterature.
2. Literary Genre: Poetry
Explanation: A poetry is an imaginative expression through meaning, sound, and figurative language to evoke emotion. The literary text is poetry because it has a rhyme scheme of ABA, around-heart-dead, and CDC, now-darkness-though, and has stanzas with three lines each, where the author talks about her walk around the pond.
3. Literary Genre: Chick Lit
Explanation: Chick literature features a female protagonist whose femininity is heavily thermalizing in the plot. In the literary text, the author describes a woman with flowery words, where he describes the woman as a plain, well-grown child, healthy, and had a nice face. With that, the character’s femininity is being praised and described.
4. Literary Genre: Drabble
Explanation: Drabble is a flash fiction that contains 100 words. The literary text contains precisely 100 words—47 words in the first paragraph and 53 words in the second paragraph. 5. Literary Genre: Non-fiction Explanation: Non-fiction is a genre where the text is based on facts and the author’s opinion about a subject. In the literary text, the author uses his observations to make opinions about slavery in the United States of America. The author uses true-to-life observations and issues to inform about slavery, as the author writes it in his memoir—a historical account written from personal knowledge.
