72 class program

In the first 48 classes:


• We cover 42 basic letter sounds
• Each sound has an associated action to help children recall
• 41 different short stories
• Basic comprehension

From 49 to 72 we extend the reading habit:


• For LKG 15 advanced letter sounds will be covered
• For UKG 22 advanced letter sounds will be covered
• These include 3 to 4 silent letters sounds will be covered
e.g. ‘kn’ in knee, ‘wh’ in white, and ‘mb’ thumb
• We’ll help them with advanced comprehension and sentence formation though the
4W approach. 4Ws are Who, What, When, Where
e.g ‘Sheena drinks milk in the morning at home’
Who = Sheena | What = drinks milk | When = in the morning | Where = at home
• Children will be able to identify the various aspects of language and read with
awareness
E.g. word patterns. like ‘un’ means the opposite
• We’ll introduce nouns, pronouns, prepositions, verbs and adverbs in a playful way
without using the technical jargon
e.g. adding ‘ly’ at the end of some words makes that word an adverb
• We teach taking a multi-sensory approach - actions, sounds, speech
• We adopt theme-based learning -
e.g. themes like my body, my family, friends, the world, etc.
• By the end, children will read stories, poems, comics, dialogues and informational
text.
• They will be able to construct their own complex sentences.

In a nutshell:
• The 49th to 72nd class covers 15 advanced phonics sounds for LKG and 22
advanced phonics sounds for UKG.
• Children will learn advanced comprehension and sentence formation.
• They will learn word patterns to decode words more efficiently.
• They will study words with same or opposite meanings to enhance vocabulary.
• Without technical language children will understand the concept of grammar like
nouns, pronouns, prepositions, verbs and adverbs.
• All classes will be based on themes such as my body, my family, friends, the world,
etc.
• Children will read stories, poems, comics, dialogues and informational texts.
• They will be able to construct their own complex sentences.
