Water conservation
GOOD MORNING/GOOD EVENING RESPECTIVE
TEACHERS AND DEAR FRIENDS
TODAY WE’LL BE PRESENTING ABOUT WATER
CONSERVATION ITS ME HARIHARAN AND
PARTNER IN THIS PRESENTATION IS VASEEGARAN
INTORDUCTION OF WATER CONSERVATION. H
POINT

 Water conservation is the practice of using water efficiently to

reduce unnecessary water usage

 Water conservation is important because fresh clean water is
a limited resource, as well as a costly one.

 You’re probably already well aware of the financial costs of
inefficient water use in our home .

 Conservation of this natural resource is critical for the
environment. [Connecting point] now we are switching on to
methods of water conservation.f
How to conserve water in your home? VH POINT
1. Plant native plant species in your garden. Colorado species
are hardier in their native soil and you will not need to water
them as often as some other more exotic plant species
2.
2.Fill the dishwasher. Wait until you have a full dishwasher to run
the machine. This will not only save water, but also electricity. If you
just need one item, a quick hand wash will use less water than
running the dishwasher with just a few items in it.

3. Practice smart lawn watering. Water your lawn at optimal times of

the day and make sure your sprinkler system is watering the lawn
and not the sidewalk. Also, mow your lawn to a taller height, which
will help keep moisture from e vaporating as quickly.

4.Defrost food in the fridge. Instead of running frozen foods under

hot water from the faucet, build in time to let them defrost in the
refrigerator.

5. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth. According to the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), this simple act me
more than 200 gallons of water in a single month.
6. Rinse Your Razor in the Sink
Fill the sink with a few inches of warm water. This will rinse your
razor just as well as running water, with far less waste of water.

7. Buy Less
Consumer products are an often-overlooked source of water use,
accounting for up to a third of most people’s water footprint. Buying
less of everything—from clothing to electronics to household goods
—can dramatically decrease your water footprint.
8. Turn Off the Water After You Wet Your Toothbrush
There is no need to keep the water running while brushing your
teeth. Just wet your brush and fill a glass for mouth rinsing.
Water cycle Earth’s magic.
The water cycle, also known as the hydrologic cycle or the
hydrological cycle, is a biogeochemical cycle that describes the
continuous movement of water on, above and below the surface of
the Earth. The mass of water on Earth remains fairly constant over
time but the partitioning of the water into the major reservoirs of ice,
fresh water, saline water (salt water) and atmospheric water is
variable depending on a wide range of climatic variables.

THAT’S IT FOR SMALL SCALE CONSERVATION OF WATER

NOW LARGE SCALE CONSERVATION OF WATER . V POINT

1. Modern methods of irrigation

A large portion of water can be conserved by adoption of modern
methods of irrigation. Irrigation consumes double the quantity of
water in comparison to all other uses. Sprinkler and drip irrigation
methods save 50 per cent water. Now we shall see about rain water
harvesting .
What is rain water harvesting ?
Rain water harvesting is collection and storage of rain water that
runs off from roof tops, parks, roads, open grounds, etc. This water
run off can be either stored or recharged into the ground water. A
rainwater harvesting systems consists of the following components:

1.Catchment from where water is captured and stored or recharged,

2. Conveyance system that carries the water harvested from the
catchment to the storage/recharge zone,
3. first flush that is used to flush out the first spell of rain,
4.filter used to remove pollutants,

That’s it for our presentation. We hope we explained well and
presented well about this topiz Thanking everyone for this
wonderful opportunity.
