Assessment: This is an individual activity since it is an assessment.

1. Why has a plague struck the Greek camp? Why is the prophet Calchas reluctant
to explain the cause of the plague?
 The Plague stuck the Greek camp because the disease was caused by Apollo, who
sent that to condemn Agamemnon for seizing Chryseis as a trophy of battle. He
demands that she be returned to him. It results in the deaths of many soldiers Upon
10 days of agony, Achilles summons the Achaean warriors and requests a fortune
teller to reveal the reason of the plague. Calchas, a powerful sorcerer, rises to offer
his services. The Prophet Calchas is reluctant to explain the cause of the plague
because of his fear of Agamemnon's vengeance, Calchas exposes the plague like a
vengeance and tactical relocation by Chryses and Apollo. Agamemnon erupts in
rage and declares that he will only surrender Chryseis if Achilles grants him
Briseis in exchange.

2. On what condition will Agamemnon give back Chryseis? Why does Achilles take
offence at this condition?
 In Condition of Agamemnon will give back Chryseis if only Achilles will give
him Briseis as a compensation who is its Achilles’s Wife. Achilles takes offence in
the condition because he considered that the deal is arrogant, especially since he
did not fight alongside the Achaeans against by the Trogans.
3. Imagine that you are a witness to the quarrel between Achilles and Agamemnon.
Write a brief account of the quarrel from that point of view. Suggest a peaceful
solution. Write a two-page essay of this account
 If I were in the situation witnessing the quarrel between Achilles and Agamemnon,
the conflict between Achilles and Agamemnon is both egos of men. Witnessing
the quarrel of this both men seem to be difficult because Agamemnon, despite his
greatness as a king and military commanding general, is envious, greedy, and self-
centered. Achilles is known for his tenacity and stubbornness. That is why the
conflict between them rises because Achilles also concerned that Briseis is his, his
prize and Agamemnon, out of Jealously wants to take the prize that was given to
Achilles. As I have seen it in my point of view it was Apollo’s fault who brought
the plague upon the Achaean army. They represent internal forces acting on
individuals, such as when Athena, the goddess of wisdom, convinces Achilles to
break Agamemnon with derogatory slurs instead of his sword. Agamemnon and
Achilles separately make off with just a young woman just after Greeks capture a
city associated with Troy. When Agamemnon is forced to surrender his "prize,"
Chryseis, he decides to kidnap Briseis, whom Achilles has been granted. Achilles
screams violently and tells his warriors not to battle the Greeks. He asks Zeus for
help, and Zeus agrees to help the Trojans. They had a tremendous deal of success,
demonstrating Achilles' centrality to the Greek fight. The conflict, then, is mostly
about honor. Achilles is deeply offended when Agamemnon takes Briseis from
him, and also because Achilles has never truly recognized Agamemnon's
jurisdiction, he peasant uprisings. Achilles throws a tantrum in his tent yet after
Agamemnon agrees to release Briseis with certain gifts. Only its execution of
Patroclus (disguised as Achilles own) so at palms of Hector inspires Achilles to
resume the war. So, he take revenge and murdered the one who murdered his
friend. The gods represent a serious purpose in partially assessing grave matters
such as harmony and violent behavior. In comparison to the mass extermination
that permeates the corporeal realm, their confuses, twofold, and nonsensical
quarrels often appear comically petty. The squabble among Zeus and Hera, for
instance, is a much lighter counterpart to Agamemnon and Achilles' heated
exchange. Respectively Agamemnon and Achilles place their personal glory well
above fellow human of the Achaean forces. Agamemnon appears to believe that,
as commander of the Achaean forces, he is entitled to the absolute highest reward
was therefore inclined to antagonize Achilles, most important Achaean fighter, to
obtain what he believes is rightfully his. Instead of resolving the situation, Achilles
will rather maintain his right to Briseis, his prize of triumph and consequently
what he perceives is rightfully entitled to him. Each man views yielding to another
as an act of shame instead of an act of honor or obligation; as a result, each man
prioritizes his own interests over the interests of his people, compromising the war
effort. Seeing both Achilles and Agamemnon fight over the prize that in the hands
of a right one it was really Achilles rights to defend what was his as a prize given
to him, But the conflict the two rises us because of Agamemnon’s Act of Jealously
wanting to take back what he already gives to Achilles as a prize. In Achilles shoe
it was annoying, and you would really feel the anger of what his leader wants to
take back what was already given to him. Witnessing their quarrel, I might take
side to Achilles, and I understand the Rage of Achilles given to Agamemnon’s
selfishness. its Achilles' righteous indignation it begins, how it cripples the
Achaeans, and how it will be subsequently redirected to the Trojans. Despite the
fact that the Trojan War is extensively incorporated within the employment
description, the greater struggle functions as context instead of actual content for
the book. By the moment Achilles and Agamemnon meet, the Battle has been
raging for over ten years. On the other hand, Achilles' absence from combat is
short, as well as the epic ends soon after his homecoming. The rage of Achilles
was understandable because witnessing fighting and doing a great job I might say
that Achilles deserves the prize and suddenly your leader want them to take it
back. In Agamemnon side is an act of Jealousy to your comrades and it was very
wrong because Achilles, his soldier fight alongside and stood them to fight so
Achilles really deserves the prize. In my point of view also I can really tell that the
Furious side of Achilles inside him really rise up as what his leader wants to be
done. Neither the beginning nor the war ended that frames Achilles' rage are
described in the poem. Instead, it examines the causes and consequences of this
rage, reducing the poem's scope from a greater struggle among competing peoples
to a smaller conflict between warring individuals. So I suggest to resolve this
conflict and war between Achilles and Agamemnon is if Agamemnon will lower
his pride and give Briseis back to Achilles because he is the one who have the
rights to claim Briseis as his own because it was given it to him as a prize and
compensation on what Achilles have done. Achilles deserves it because he works
hard to achieve something and also he deserve it because he gave his best, so a
peaceful resolution to this is if both of them will talk peacefully and if
Agamemnon agree to give it back to the rightful owner, also Agamemnon already
overuse his power as a leader to take back what he already given. So as a leader as
a gratitude and give honor to Achilles should lower his ego and give Achilles what
he truly deserves. A true leader has a power, so he doesn’t need anymore his
jealousy over his comrades. Talk peacefully and should done an agreement to ease
the conflict between them.
