Genesis 30:37-43
37 Jacob, however, took fresh-cut branches from poplar, almond and plane trees and made white stripes on
them by peeling the bark and exposing the white inner wood of the branches. 38 Then he placed the peeled
branches in all the watering troughs, so that they would be directly in front of the flocks when they came to
drink. When the flocks were in heat and came to drink, 39 they mated in front of the branches. And they
bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted. 40 Jacob set apart the young of the flock by
themselves, but made the rest face the streaked and dark-colored animals that belonged to Laban. Thus
he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban’s animals. 41 Whenever the stronger
females were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would
mate near the branches, 42 but if the animals were weak, he would not place them there. So the weak
animals went to Laban and the strong ones to Jacob. 43 In this way the man grew exceedingly prosperous
and came to own large flocks, and female and male servants, and camels and donkeys.
Types of Technologies
➢ GENE TECHNOLOGY

It is the term given to a range of activities

concerned with understanding gene expression,
taking advantage of natural genetic variation,
modifying genes and transferring genes to new hosts.
Genes are found in all living organisms and are
passed on from one generation to the next.
Tools and Methods
➢ WATER TROUGH

A Watering Trough is a man-made or natural

container used to give drinking water to farm or
livestock animals, as well as wild animals. The size of
a water trough is determined by whether the flock is
watered on a regular basis or on a continuous basis.
If water is limited, the length of the trough should be
sufficient to allow flocks to drink at the same time.
Tools and Methods
➢RODS or PEELED TREE BRANCH
Poplar
A straight slender stick growing on
or cut from a tree or bush. The utilization
of a peeled rod and a watering trough
helps to provide a better or easier way for Almond

flocks to mate or conceive. And also, by

using the rod, it separates the feeble
flocks from the strong. Chestnut
Tools and Methods
➢MATING (MATE)

the act of pairing or matching

especially sexually. The period during
which a seasonally breeding animal is
capable of mating. This method is
necessary for a species to reproduce
Culture, Social and Society

We Filipinos tend to believe a gestation where we believe that if

a pregnant women crave for 'something', or could be someone, their

daughter will also acquire their cravings' traits just like what happened

to the flocks. They kept on seeing the white-stripes peeled branches of

trees, which results to bearing a streaked or speckled or spotted flocks.

Another thing, it was also mentioned that Jacob chooses the stronger

and healthier one and let the feebler belong to Laban which also

reflects us, choosing the more beneficial to us.
