MEDIA PLATFORMS
Erin Pettigrew, vp, business development, Gawker Media.
Media platforms are technologies and standards that enable authors and other media
"producers" to interact more efficiently with readers and other media "consumers." A
platform will assist readers and authors if it overcomes the major difficulties that
various groups of readers and writers face today. If a media platform overcomes these
obstacles and enables mutual discovery, narrative collaboration, and audience creation
between readers and authors, it has succeeded.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and other platforms link different media
makers and curators with media consumers. They address the aforementioned issues
for relatively mass audiences that revolve around relatively low-barrier media
generation. However, we are now seeing a more concentrated sort of media platform
develop — or mature, as YouTube has which is a media publication platform. These
platforms aim to tackle media-creation difficulties for a smaller set of media makers
(something between amateur and professional writers/videographers, etc.), since what
is made is a much more developed work: an essay, a news piece, a video, a
sophisticated dialogue, etc. These platforms appear to be facilitating discovery for
readers and other media consumers across a broader range of topics.

GLOBALIZATION:
Globalization is the process by which ideas, knowledge, information,  goods and
services spread around the world. In business, the term is used in an economic context
to describe integrated economies marked by free trade, the free flow of capital among
countries and easy access to foreign resources, including labor markets, to maximize
returns and benefit for the common good.
Globalization, or globalization as it is known in some parts of the world, is driven by
the convergence of cultural and economic systems. This convergence promotes -- and
in some cases necessitates -- increased interaction, integration and interdependence
among nations. The more countries and regions of the world become intertwined
politically, culturally and economically, the more globalized the world becomes.
