Exercise 2
“A room without books is like a body without a soul.” is an absolutely well-said statement that
was once told by Marcus Tullius Cicero as he expressed his opinion on books.
To me, the word BOOK is an acronym, thus I perceive it as a Big Ocean Of Knowledge.
Therefore, I can proudly state the fact that books play a great role not only in entertaining me, but also in
developing my comprehension ability and my soul, motivating me to accomplish my most desirable goals
and showing me that anything is possible as long as you work hard to achieve it. Personally, I don’t own
many books in my house but I have read plenty of them. Hence, I consider that when Cicero said “room”
he could have referred to the mind of an individual because the material part is not as important as the
lesson and ideas that we take from the writings that we read. Taking in consideration his words, we
clearly understand that reading is necessary for everyone – just like eating and drinking, but it shouldn’t
feel like an obligation, it should be done for pleasure.
For me, reading is a solitude, a solitude that helps me recharge my batteries and become stronger,
wiser, more understanding and enlightened.

Exercise 3
Mark Twain once said “Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
and out of everyone, I can relate to this quote the most.
To be fairly honest, I used to hate reading books, I used to refuse focusing my eyes on some
words. Yet, now I understand that my hatred towards the innocent pieces of paper was only because of
the fact that I didn’t know myself enough to choose a perfect genre that would fit my taste. My favorite
book out of the dozens I have read is “Becoming” by the wonder woman of our times- Michelle Obama.
The life-changing book is an autobiography detailing the highs and lows of Michelle Obama’s incredible
journey from humble beginnings in the less glamourous South Side of Chicago, to the grandeur of the
White House and life as America’s first African-American First Lady. Her message is one of
strengthening our inner convictions, inspiring self-mastery and encouraging authentic leadership; to lead
by example, aim for the highest standards and work hard to achieve them. This book is a warm, honest
account of her life experiences, told in a way that invites the reader right in.
I look forward to reading books as long as I live and to becoming inspired and empowered just by
studying someone’s words left on a piece of paper by a deft and prolific pen.
