Course Description
The course in Nutrition aims to give an understanding the power of diet in regards to maintaining health.
As a massage therapist it is important to live the principles that you propagate. A healthy diet and lifestyle
is a vital component in doing so.

Student Expectations:
It is an expectation that students arrive in class on time and prepared to learn.
Students are encouraged to meet with their instructors to give prior notice if they will be absent.
Computers and phones are prohibited in class, unless stated by the instructor to use them. Ipads are
given for educational purposes; please respect this privilege given to you.

Grading: *PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL ACADEMIC TESTS, MIDTERMS & QUIZZES ARE CLOSED BOOK*
Marks for this course are tabulated as follows:

Attendance 25%
Participation 25%
Assignment 40%
Quiz 10%
Total 100%

EXAMINATIONS/ASSIGNMENTS
Each student must achieve a mark of 65% or higher for a passing grade on each examination. Please
note that the exact distribution of classes and exams is put up monthly on the calendar in the classroom.

Exam dates are scheduled in advance therefore there is no reason not to be in attendance on the day
of an exam. Please make your instructor aware of any planned absences ahead of time.

If you are sick on exam day


 you are responsible to provide medical documents (doctors note) BEFORE you can write a
missed exam
 you have one week from scheduled exam day to write without penalty (as long as you have your
medical document)
 if you fail to write the exam within the week of original exam date, you will automatically lose
25% off your exam mark
 if you fail to bring in medical documents, it is considered an unexcused absence and you will
automatically lose 25% off the exam mark

If you fail the original exam

 you have one week from scheduled exam date to re-write without penalty
 It would be advised that you book with the front desk immediately after receiving your grade
 if you fail to write the exam within the week of original exam date you will automatically lose
25% off your exam mark
 your mark for the exam will be determined by an average of the original exam mark and the re-
write mark

If you miss exam without a medical excuse


 if you fail to bring in medical documents, it is considered an unexcused absence and you will
automatically lose 25% off the exam mark
 you have one week from scheduled exam date to write without further penalty

If you are late for a scheduled exam


 Once the majority of the class has arrived and the exams have been handed out, you can still
enter the room and write the exam, however no instructions will be repeated for you and no
additional time will be given to you in order to complete the exam.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE


At a minimum, students must achieve the following:
Completion of all required examinations
Submission of all required exercises and projects
Adherence to the school attendance policy Makeup work is the student’s responsibility. The
student must arrange with a tutor a convenient time and place to accomplish the makeup work.
Makeup needs to be completed outside of regularly scheduled class time. Arrangements for tutoring
must be made in advance.
