Karazhanbas oil field

During 2019, 30 injection

wells were treated there

Analysis of the field geophysical studies results in the treated wells showed that in most cases after the injection of a
cross-linked polymer composition with a filler into the formation there is a shift in their injectivity profiles, as well as an
increase in bottomhole injection pressure, which indicates tamponization of oil reservoir intervals flushed with water.

According to the calculations carried out in Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and
Gas in 2019-2020, the total technological effect of the PRU in 2019-2020 was about
26.3 thousand tons of additional oil production, including 23.2 thousand tons due to the
reduction of water cut in the well production.
Conclusions
Karazhanbas oil field

1. Application results analysis of the various methods to improve the water flooding
efficiency at the Karazhanbas field. Karazhanbas showed the effectiveness of the
alternating injection of steam and water method into the reservoir, as well as the
method of water injection wells.
2. The field-injection-geophysical surveys results analysis of the injection wells,
conducted before and after RPU showed the shift of injectivity profiles in the treated
wells and the growth of injection pressure values in them, which indicates the effect
of plugging of water-flushed interlayers.
3. The calculations showed the presence of noticeable technological effect from the
water shut-off works carried out in the injection wells of the Karazhanbas field.

Recovery strategy
Troll East and West oil and gas fields (Norway)

Troll East and West are in pressure communication. Only in Troll West is the oil zone thick enough to justify commercial production at present.
Gas in Troll East is produced through pressure reduction. Oil production in the Troll West oil province is optimized with the aid of gas
injection. An important part of the production strategy has been to drain the oil quickly because its recovery could be reduced as pressure
declines in Troll East. Gas production from the latter has accordingly been held back.
Forty wells have been drilled and each is capable
of producing 3.4 million cubic metres of gas per
day.
Fram West is produced through the injection of gas for pressure support.
Development of Fram East comprises two Where Fram East is concerned, the Sognefjord reservoir is produced through
subsea templates tied back to Troll C. Plans call water injection from Troll C as pressure support and with gas lift, while the
for five production wells and two water Etive will be produced with expansion from the gas cap
injectors.
The Autonomous inflow control
device (AICD) that is installed at
Troll was originally developed by
Statoil and this type of AICD is
referred to as the Rate Controlled The average of the
Production (RCP) valve. increased oil production

are 31% for ICD and 46%
for AICD compared to a no
inflow case

The equation states that the sum

of the static pressure, the dynamic
pressure and the frictional pressure
losses along a streamline is constant
Conclusions
Troll oil and gas field

Conclusions The AICD technology has been implemented successfully at the Troll oil
field, based on the criteria of no negative HSE effects, no associated problems
during completion, start-up or production, no negative effect on production, and a
favourable GOR development and cumulative oil production. The capacity of the
AICDs is seen to be sufficient to produce the plateau liquid rates prior to gas
breakthrough. The AICD wells are produced towards a lower bottom hole pressure
due to added pressure drop across lower completion (AICD screens), but this extra
pressure drop is not seen as a problem in Troll wells.
