Description and Criteria

Objective The objective of this project is to be able to convey in spoken form information about a subculture,
their cultural identity, cultural values, the cultural practices they engage in, and the cultural
spaces they inhabit.

Final Product
- A 8 to 10-minute group oral presentation about a subculture in Cali or the world.

Things to consider when researching and developing your oral presentations are:
 Who is part of this subculture?
 What defines this subculture? What is their cultural identity?
 What other subcultures are associated with or connected with it?
 What cultural practices or rituals do they engage in?
 What is important to this subculture? What are their cultural values?
 Where in the world do they engage in their cultural practices?
 What, if any, conflicts exist within this subculture?

Grading Criteria
Oral presentations will be assessed in the following areas:
 content
 preparation
 coherence/organization
 use of visual aids
 answering questions
 fluency
 clarity
 language use
 audience participation
 effectiveness
