counseling. Frank Parson and E.G
Williamson were the proponents of this
idea in the early 1900s. This theory
states that a person can choose a
future career or job if it matches
their abilities, standards, morals,
interests, and even personality.

What do I want to accomplish?
Where is this goal to be achieved?

M-MEASURABLE
- Define what evidence will prove you’re making
progress and reevaluate when necessary

To make a goal measurable, ask yourself:

How many/much?
How do I know if I have reached my goal?
What is my indicator of progress?
A-ATTAINABLE
- Make sure you can reasonably accomplish your
goal within a certain time frame

Consider the following questions:

Do I have the necessary resources and


ability to complete the task? What am I
missing if not?
Is it something that others have done
successfully before?
R-RELEVANT
- Your goals should align with your values and
long term objectives. Consider whether or not
your goals are relevant when setting them for
yourself. Each of your objectives should be in line
with your values and long-term objectives.
T-TIME BASED
- Set a realistic, ambitious end-date for task
prioritization and motivation.

help define an individual. Self-awareness is the
most important step in making any life important

- There are choices that are made available for
the selection. There should be bases for the
selection like importance and practicality.
Step 3:

personal abilities, interest, values and needs.

important to achieve the goals.
