1. An Introduction to Spectrum Touch and the Environmental Hydrocarbons

FT-IR Touch Apps
Spectrum Touch is a software package enabling the user to perform specific
pre-configured IR spectroscopic analyses (Touch Apps) in an attractive, streamlined,
workflow-oriented environment to enhance productivity and reproducibility of analyses.
The software is optimized for use with touch-screen hardware (including “multi-touch” capable
devices) and can comfortably be operated without a keyboard and mouse.

The Environmental Hydrocarbons FT-IR Touch Apps Software is a collection of Touch Apps for
condition quantifying oil and grease dispersed in water samples.

Features include:
 Support for ASTM D7066
 An alternative method in which the oil concentration is determined by an HATR
measurement
 An alternative method in which the oil is extracted into cyclohexane
 Instrument support: Spectrum Two and Frontier IR Systems
 Designed for touch operation (requires compatible hardware) including software control
and data entry and display
 Sampling and clean-up instructions are displayed on-screen during analysis
 Result output: on-screen display; PDF or printed reports; export to comma-separated
format
 Standard operating procedures (SOPs) are included and can be customized
 Apps can be customized to modify instrument settings and instruction screens; change
reporting behavior; and implement alarm limits
2. Hardware and Operating System requirements
 Recommended PC specification:
o 1.8 Ghz dual core that can be hyperthreaded to provide 4 processors
o 4 Gb of memory
o At least 64 Gb solid state disk drive or SATA II drive
o 1280 x 768 or better screen resolution
Note that this is purely a guide to help provide a PC which will ensure the software
operates with reasonable performance.
 Optional for touch screen functionality: A capacitive or optical multi-touch screen is
preferred. A single-touch screen (resistive/capacitive/optical) will suffice, but some
functions may not be available.
 Windows 7 Home Premium, Business or Ultimate edition, and Windows 8 Standard or
Professional 32- or 64-bit. Touch apps will NOT work on Windows XP and touch screen
functionality is not available on Windows 7 Starter edition.

3. Limitations and Known Problems
