Introductory Message

Welcome to theTechnical Vocational Education–8 Module XVII on Page Formatting


This Self-Learning Module was collaboratively designed, developed and
reviewed by educators from the Schools Division Office of Pasig City headed by its
Officer-in-Charge Schools Division Superintendent, Ma. Evalou Concepcion A.
Agustin, in partnership with the City Government of Pasig through its Mayor,
Honorable Victor Ma. Regis N. Sotto. The writer utilized the standards set by the K
to 12 Curriculum using the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC)in
developing this instructional resource.

This learning material hopes to engage the learners in guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Further, this also aims to help learners
acquire the needed 21st century skills especially the 5 Cs, namely: Communication,
Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character while taking into
consideration their needs and circumstances.

Welcome to the Technical Vocational Education 8 Module XVI on Page Formatting


Microsoft word is an important education application. It is important to
process raw facts into meaningful information. Microsoft word can benefits students
to create new innovative methods of learning and teaching. It was created by
Microsoft Corporation. It is an effective tool for making all kind of documents like
letters, updates, reports, research projects, and typesetting books and magazines,
and so on.

This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful
opportunities for guided and independent learning at your own pace and time. You
will be enabled to process the contents of the learning material while being an active
learner.

This module has the following parts and corresponding icons:

Expectations– This points to the set of knowledge and skills that


you will learn after completing the module.

Pretest - This measures your prior knowledge aboutthe lesson


at hand.

Recap - This part of the module provides a review of concepts


and skills that you already know about a previous lesson.

Lesson- This section discusses the topic in the module.

Activities - This is a set of activities that you need to perform.

Wrap-Up- This section summarizes the concepts and

lesson.

LESSON 1

PAGE FORMATTING

Page formatting is one of the most important things you have to learn in
Microsoft Word. It enables you to setup the contents in your document as to how it
will be seen when you print it. This Module allows you to learn how to format your
Page Margin, Page Size, Orientation, and how you will put Headers and Footers as
well as the Page Numbers.

Page Margins

Page Margins are the spaces you can see around your document. Here are
the steps you can follow to format your margin:

STEP 1: Navigate to the Layout tab, and then click “Margins”. A dropdown box will
appear on your screen.

STEP 2: Choose a margin you prefer. Click it to apply the desired margin to your
document.
STEP 3: You can also modify your margin if the one you prefer is not included in the
options from the dropdown box. To do it, click the “Custom Margin” option and a
dialog box will appear.
STEP 4: Set your margin by typing your desired measurement on the Top, Bottom,
Left, and Right part.

STEP 5: Once you are finished, click “OK” and the margins will be applied to your
document.

Page Size

The Page Size enables you to change the size of the paper depending on the
type of document you are working with. Below are the steps in editing your page
size:
STEP 1: Go to the Layout tab and click the “Size” option on the Page Setup group.
STEP 2: Select the size you prefer from the choices on the dropdown box.

STEP 3: If the size you want is not in the choices, click “More Paper Size” on the last
option of your dropdown box.
STEP 4: A dialog box will appear. You can now choose from a variety of sizes, or you
can customize the size accordingly.

STEP 5: Click the OK button when you are done.

Page Orientation

Page orientation is the direction of the paper in your document. It is either


the Portrait or the Landscape Orientation.

STEP 1: Click the Layout tab, look for the Page Setup group, and click “Orientation”.
STEP 2: The choice for either Portrait or Landscape will appear on the dropdown
menu.

STEP 3: Click your preferred Orientation. It will now be applied to your document.

Headers and Footers

Headers are usually seen on the top part of the document, while Footers are
on the bottom part. To include Headers and Footers in your document, follow these
steps:

STEP 1: Go to the Insert tab and click “Headers” or “Footers” depending on what
you wish to put to your document.
STEP 2: Select the style of the Header or Footer you want from the menu.
STEP 3: The Header or Footer will appear in your document. You can encode the
details like Title, Date, Page number, etc. in your Header or Footer.

Page Number

If you want to include Page Numbers on your document, just do the following
steps:

STEP 1: Click the Insert tab and proceed to Headers and Footers group. Select “Page
Number”.
STEP 2: Choices of the position of your Page Numbers will be seen on the dropdown
menu. Click your desired one.
