This extremely rare Bob Ross painting is one of the few that feature a man-made structure as the
focal point. Rendered in Ross' signature neo-realist style, "The Old Mill" showcases the rich textures and
extremely life-like details for which the artist is famous. While the mill is the focus, we see all the classic
elements of a Bob Ross natural landscape in the backdrop, including the pink sky, lush grass, and soaring
"happy trees." The image of "The Old Mill" was painted by Ross in "Season 3, Episode 9, which aired in
1984.

Having spent his entire artistic career in front of the TV camera shooting “The Joy of Painting”,
Bob Ross was one of the greatest advocates for painting in the late 20th century. Known as a painter of
uniquely soothing voice, who always painted “happy” images, he was watched by millions and eventually
reached the status of a living icon.
