NATIONAL FOREWORD
This Indian Standard which is identical with ISO 3076 : 1984 'Short link cha in for lifting purposes - Grade
T(8), non-calibrated, for chain slings, letc .'issued by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards on the recommendation of the Cranes, Lifting Chains and
Related Equipment Sectional Comm ittee and approval of the Mechan ical Engineering Division Council.
This standard supersedes IS 6215 : 1982 'Specification for short link chain, Grade T(8), non-calibrated for
lifting purposes (first revision)' .
The text of ISO Standard has been approved as suitable for publication as an Indian Standard without
deviations . Certa in convent ions are. however, not identical to those used in Indian Standards. Attention is
particularly drawn to the following:
I ,
a) Wherever the words 'International Standard' appear referring to this standard, they should be read as
'Indian Standard' .
b) Comma (,) has been used as a decimal marker In the International Standard while in Indian Standard,
the current practice is to use a potnt (.) as the decimal marker.
In this adopted standard, reference appears to certain International Standards for which Indian Standards
also exist. The corresponding Indian Standards which are to be substituted in their respective places are
listed below along with their degree of equivalence for the editions indicated:
ISO 1834 : 1999 Short link chain for ISIISO 1834 : 1999 Short link chain for Identical
lifting purposes - Genera l condit ions lifting purposes - General cond itions
of acceptance of acceptance
The technical committee has reviewed the provisions of the follOWing International Standards referred in this
adopted standard and has decided that they are acceptable for use in conjunction with this standard:
ISO 1035/1 : 1980 Hot-ro lled steel bars - Part 1: Dimens ions of round bars
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with , the final
value, observed or calcu lated , expressing the result of a test or analysis shall be rounded off in accordance
With IS 2 : 1960 'RUles for rounding off numerical values (revised)'. The number of signif icant places retained
In the rounded off value should be the same as that of the spec ified value in this standard.
