Debridement is known and described by many wound care experts as an essential process of wound bed
preparation that promotes wound healing. This workshop helps participants become familiar with surgical/sharp
debridement and its different techniques (biosurgical and mechanical). Participants will gain knowledge about wound
evaluation, the goals of debridement (when and why), tricks and traps. Attendees will be able to practice sharp
debridement during the workshop and learn some helpful practical skills to further more integrate this essential
practice in their wound care management.

11:15-12:15 Key Session: Delivering & Measuring Outcomes in Chronic Wounds: ( ) Amphitheatre
From Wound Management to Wound Closure Bleu
A core outcome set (COS) is a minimum set of outcomes that should be measured and reported in all clinical trials for
a specific clinical area as agreed on by stakeholders in that field. An outcome is any identifiable consequence of the
exposure to a health care intervention, such as a drug or a dressing. An outcome must be appropriate, measurable,
and meaningful to stakeholders. COS are gaining recognition as a means of improving the potential for meta- analysis
within systematic reviews and ultimately synthesising results of trials that include outcomes of importance to patients
and key stakeholders. A COS also reduces the risk of outcome-reporting bias. This key session will cover the latest
trends in core outcome set development in the woundcare field, including COS for pressure ulcers, incontinence-
associated dermatitis, venous leg ulcers and burns.
Learning objectives:
- Understanding the objectives and needs for core outcome sets in woundcare
- Understanding the methods to develop core outcome sets
- Understanding the COS for pressure ulcers, incontinence- associated dermatitis, venous leg ulcers and burns.

- Provide practical guidance based on the newest evidence and clinical practise
- Highlight the technological advances and new usage areas
- Highlight the challenges and opportunities related to the clinical application of all the
available NPWT solutions
- Explore and describe the role of NPWT in the provision of telemedicine services in
wound management

Room Havane DEBRICHEM®: a Novel Desiccant Gel for the Removal of Biofilm and Necrosis
( ) Biofilms and necrosis are known to have a significant and negative impact on wound healing.
Thus, their formation needs to be prevented and, when present, they need to be removed.
The removal process, debridement, can be executed using several different approaches and techniques,
from simply using the bodily mechanisms of autolysis, via an approach using enzymes, ultrasound, and
other means, to surgical excision. The latter technique is fast and efficient but needs to be done in a
medical setting and by trained personnel, which makes for a complicated and expensive procedure.
Debrichem is a new, acid-based debriding agent which has been shown to be very effective in a clinical
trialİin patients with 54 serious and very serious (Wagner III and IV) foot and lower leg ulcers: 93% of all
ulcers, some of which had been in existence for years, reached complete granulation and
reepithelialization was complete in 74% which, for this type of patient cohort, is quite significant.
The DEBx scientific symposium will discuss the importance of biofilms, the scientific background and
working mechanisms of Debrichem. Also, the results of the trial and a series of illustrative cased will be
presented.

OVERVIEW
16:15–17:15 AOTI
Room 352A Topical Wound Oxygen (TWO2) therapy for sustainably healing chronic wounds, correcting health
inequities, reducing hospitalizations and amputations
This symposium will first summarize the growing burden that chronic wounds impose on patients,
caregivers, clinicians, and healthcare systems alike. The critical psycho-social impact of DFU,
hospitalization and amputation and how the associated effects impact outcomes will be discussed. It
will then introduce the extensive body of RCT, RWE, Systematic Reviews and Meta Analyses will be
summarized, which support the recent evidence based Clinical Practice Recommendations for topical
oxygen from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). It will provide an overview on how the unique

directly by sustainably healing wounds to provide patients with more ulcer free days, resulting in
significantly less hospitalizations and lower extremity amputations. Finally, real world case examples of
chronic DFU and VLU ulcers treated with TWO2 therapy, applied by patients at home, will be presented.

Room 252B HYALURONIC ACID: a pioneer in all wound healing stages
75 years of experience and research into Hyaluronic Acid molecule have placed Fidia at the forefront in
the production of both natural and functionalized hyaluronic acid.
The need to challenge and innovate encouraged Fidia to exploit its expertise on Hyaluronic Acid and to
step forward from TIME concept to TIMER offering a Pioneer molecule in the field: from a product able
to boost the healing and so helping WBP, passing from a bioactive dressing that supports dermal
structure during the repair phase and, finally a product to help wound closure and re-epithelialization.
