Syllabus
Concepts and definitions. Introduction to cartography and presentation of basic concepts. Coordinate systems and transformations between Systems. Study of spherical and plane coordinate systems and transformation operations between them. Cartographic semiology. Study of visual variables, conventional symbols, relief representations, lettering and toponymy The cartographic process. Study of the phases of the cartographic process Introduction to cartographic projections. Study of basic cartographic projections: Orthographic, stereographic, gnomonic. Applications of basic cartography. Study of the practical uses of basic cartography.
