Sixth grade science is an integrated science course that will cover many disciplines of science.
In following the 6th grade science TEKS, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, we will
investigate physics, chemistry, earth/space, and life science.
We will begin the year with an introductory unit on lab safety, lab equipment, measurement, and
the scientific method.
Supplies:
Composition notebook
1” binder with paper
Folder with brads
Students will need to bring their science Binder with paper and pencil to class with them each
day. A separate 1 inch binder for science is encouraged. Student’s folder with brads will be left
in my classroom.
Homework: The students will be journaling and taking notes in class. These notes will also be
helpful on exams and should be reviewed nightly. Therefore, the best question to ask your
student is “What do you need to look over, and /or study tonight?” Other homework will only be
assigned if the student did not use their time wisely in class.
Late Work: Better late than never! Failure to turn in assignments on time will result in 10 points
off every day it is late. If the assignment is not turned in once 50% has been reached, the
student will be required to attend tutorials and must complete the missing assignment and any
other work Mrs. Brown deems necessary or will receive a 0 in the gradebook for missing work.
