CIRCULAR

Sub: NTPC Global Management Challenge - 2022

NTPC, in association with the International Organizing Committee for Global

Management Challenge, shall be conducting a Dedicated Challenge for NTPC
Executives.

Competition Format: NTPC Global Management Challenge 2022 will consist of 4

Rounds of Business Simulation through online mode.

Program Schedule: The Competition is tentatively scheduled to start in the second

fortnight of October 2022, with the Grand Final tentatively scheduled to be held in
December 2022.

Eligibility for Participation: All full-time NTPC executives up to the level of

AGM including ETs can participate in the Competition in a team of four (members).
The Team Members must situated at the same location itself at the time of
Registration for participation in the Competition.

Registration Guidelines: Interested Executives can register themselves for the

NTPC GLOBAL MANAGEMENT

CHALLENGE - 2022
INTRODUCTION
NTPC is conducting a dedicated Global Management Challenge -
the world's largest strategy and management competition (India -
2022 edition) with an objective to enhance cross-functional
learning and managerial ability among employees.

Online nominations will be invited from the willing employees,

organized in a team of 4 members to participate in the 2022
edition of NTPC Global Management Challenge.

The simulation exercise will focus on special emphasis on Strategy

formation, Scenario analysis, cross-functional coordination and
forming consensus to make commercial and strategic decisions on
Finance, Marketing, HR, Production / Operations etc.

Best 8 Teams (tentatively) from the NTPC Global Management

Challenge will be nominated for participation in the flagship event
of GMC India - National Finals 2022, scheduled in Delhi NCR (26-28
January' 2023).

COMPETITION FORMAT
NTPC Global Management Challenge will consist of 4 Rounds
of Business Simulation:

Round 1 (Online):

Round 1 of the competition will be participated by all participating

teams in the challenge. All Teams will divided in a group of 8
Teams (tentatively), on a complete random basis.

Evaluation Criteria: The team / company with highest value of

"Investment Performance" in the group, shall be the best
performing company.

Qualification: Top 4 Teams / Group from Round 1 will be nominated

for participation in Round 2.

Round 2 (Online):

Round 2 of the competition will be participated by all teams

nominated from Round 1. All Teams will divided in a group of 8
Teams (tentatively), on a complete random basis.

Evaluation Criteria: The team / company with highest value of

"Investment Performance" in the group, shall be the best
performing company.

Qualification: Top 2 Teams / Group from Round 2 will be

nominated for participation in Semi Finals.

Semi Finals (Online):

Semi Finals Round of the competition will be participated by all

teams nominated from Round 2. All Teams will divided in a group
of 5 - 8 Teams (tentatively), depending on the total nominations,
on a complete random basis.

Evaluation Criteria: The team / company with highest value of

"Investment Performance" in the group, shall be the best
performing company.

Qualification: Top 1 Team / Group from Semi Finals Round will be

nominated for participation in Company Finals.

Company Finals:

The Final Round of the NTPC Global Management Challenge will

be the flagship event. The Finals will feature Top 8 Teams
(tentatively) nominated from Semi Finals.

Evaluation Criteria: The team / company with highest value of

"Investment Performance" in the group, shall be the best
performing company.

Qualification: Top 4-8 Teams from the Company Finals will be

nominated for participation in GMC India - National Finals 2022 (26-
28 January, 2023).

HOW IT WORKS ?
Global Management Challenge consists of an interactive business
simulation in which each team manages a company with the aim
of obtaining the best investment performance for their company
in the market in which it operates.

When making top management decisions, participants go

through the analysis of economic / financial indicators, gain a
broader and more strategic view of a company, understand the
interaction between different functional areas and the impact that
their decisions can have on an organization.

1> Team Organization (4 member per Team):

Staff members must first organize themselves in a

team of 4 members to participate in the challenge.
The team will be responsible for all functional
departments of company - Marketing, Production,
Human Resource and Finance as it's Senior
Management.

2> Analyze Company History (Last 5 Quarters):

Each team is provided with a set of Company History

(Management Report for last 5 Quarters), that
outlines company’s performance in the past.

The team must study the report in detail and outline

a corporate strategy to work for their company in the
near future.

3> Take Control ! (consider 75 Decisions):

Based on the assessment of company’s history, and

in their capacity as company Senior Management,
the team must consider 75 Decisions for their
respective company, as mentioned below:

4> Evaluation and Management Report:

The company is simulated based on the decisions

taken by the team. The Simulator evaluates each
company’s decisions in relation to company itself
and in relation to other companies within the
market. The Simulator then develops a report (called
Management Report), that outlines company’s
performance.

5> Final Results (after 5 Quarters):

The process is continued for 5 Cycles of Business

Simulation i.e. each team will take decisions for their
company for 5 consecutive Quarters. At the end of
5th Cycle, the team that achieves the highest
Investment Performance will be judged as the best
performing company in the market.

Trophy for
Top Teams

Nomination to GMC India National Finals - 2022:

Top 4 - 8 Teams from NTPC Global Management Challenge 2022,

will be directly nominated for participation in GMC India National
Finals - 2022 (26-28 January, 2023).

Winner of GMC India National Finals will go on to represent "Team

India" at Global Management Challenge World Finals.

Diploma in Management issued by SDG Portugal:

Based on final classification, each participant in the NTPC Global

Management Challenge will be eligible for the Diploma in
Management, issued by SDG Portugal.
