Free-standing interior birdcage scaffold


A free-standing birdcage scaffold for use in interior environments not exposed to the wind.

Design height
P Maximum height: 10.5 m to the top lift.
Maximum loading
P Top lift loaded to a maximum of 2.0 kN/m²;
P Foundation design leg load (for the client): 14.3 kN.
Permitted dimensions
P Maximum bay length: 1.7 m;
P Maximum bay width: 1.7 m (7 boards).

Location Add-on features


Valid only within an enclosed building shielded from wind. P A gin wheel may be used to lift a maximum of 50 kg.
A bespoke design is required if erected outdoors, within an Design advice may be required if any add-on features not
open structure, or in any environment exposed to the wind. stated on this compliance sheet are attached to the scaffold.

Criteria
To be erected as a TG20 compliant interior tube-and-fitting birdcage scaffold as described in TG20:13 chapter 13:
P The birdcage may be free-standing; P Single guard rails left in place at unboarded lifts;
P Maximum lift height: 2.0 m, or 2.5 m at the first lift; P Ledgers connected with right-angle couplers at all lifts;
P Maximum height no greater than four times the minimum P Principal transoms connected to standards with right-angle
base dimension; couplers;
P Top lift boarded, with optional boarded ladder bays at the lifts P Board transoms connected with putlog couplers at 0.9 m
below; spacing;
P Braced in a continuous line to the full height of the scaffold at P A supplementary coupler is required below each connection
every frame along the length and along the width; between the ledgers and internal standards at the top lift
unless EN 74 Class B couplers are used.
P Double guard rails and toe boards at boarded sections of lift
except where there is no risk of injury as defined by the risk
assessment;
