1. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this method statement is to inform the consultants and the client, the
method and procedure that Sanken Construction (Pvt.) Ltd. shall follow for crack repairing
work at National Gem and Jewelry Authority (NGJA) and to ensure all engineers and
workers at site are following the well- defined and safe methods and procedures.

4. PROCEDURE

4.1 Site Preparation.

 Work shall commence after getting work permission from the building owner.
 Repairing work shall be done during the no working hours for NGJA staffs.
 Identify the type and depth of crack by cutting groove along the crack.
 Depending on the depth of crack, the appropriate rectification methods shall be followed
 After completion of work, the area will be cleaned from any dust and other rubbish
material resulted from repairing work.
 Contractor shall raise the inspection prior to start the any application work.

4.2 Method of Rectifying Pass-through Cracks.

 The plaster should remove 100 mm either sides from the crack path of the surface.
 Clean well the area with brush to remove all loose particles, dust and any deposits. Blow
air into the crack with blow pump to clean any dust inside the crack.
 Fill the crack with X-Roc UltraPatch Low shrinkage high build concrete repair mortar.
 Leave it for 8 hours for curing.
 Again clean well the area with brush to remove all loose particles, dust and any deposits.
 Apply X-Calibur, X-Wrap Laminate Adhesive on the 100 mm wide surface on both sides.
 Place 200 mm wide X-Calibur, X-Shield Glass Fiber Fabric which is pre-wet with X-Wrap
Laminate Adhesive and paste well by brush until remove any possible air trapped inside
the laminate. Introduce sand on top of the laminate while it is wet to get rough surface
where finishing mortar can easily receive.
 Let the application to cure for 8 hours.
 Finish the surface with wall Putty

4.2 Method of Rectifying surface Cracks.


 Cut a 10 mm wide 10 mm deep ‘U’ groove along the crack path.
 The plaster should remove 50 mm either sides from the crack path at least 5 mm in deep.
 Clean well the area with brush to remove all loose particles, dust and any deposits. Blow
air in to the crack with blow pump to clean any dust inside the crack.
 Fill the crack with X-Calibur, X-Tite StrongSeal.
 Keep the application to cure for 24 - 48 hours.
 Inspection shall be raised after completion of work and monitoring on daily basis if any
re-formation crack.

5. SITE SAFETY

 Before commencing work, the site shall be free from people movement.
 All worker involving reaping work shall bear proper PPE.
 Experience works will operate if any power tools to be used.
 Incase if cutting plater by grinders, vacuumed cleaner will be used to control flying
dust.

 Grinder operator shall bear safety glass.


 No defective power cables/power tools will be allowed
 Resulting rubbish materials shall be removed from workplace and clean entire work
area.
 No cementitious water will be poured at workplace.
