WATER ROCKET

Equipment and Apparatus

Building the rocket
 UHU glue
 Dish soap (400 ml)
 Nail
 Penknife
 Masking tape
 Bicycle pump
 Tennis balls (3)
 1.5 L soda bottles
 Foam board
 Cork
 Measuring cup

Building the parachute

 Trash bag
 Hole puncher
 Scissors
 Duct tape
 String

Procedure for water rocket

Mark out the middle points of the
foam core board with a ruler
Cut down the line. Break it into half.
Attach the fins to the bottle. Place
the cork and the pump into the bottle
and tape the first fin to the side of
the bottle.
Take the second fin and tape it on the
opposite side of the bottle directly
across from the first fin. Tape the
third and fourth fins on the open
space on the other sides of the bottle.
Push the cork into the opening of the
bottle until a really tight fit. Place the
rocket on the ground and pump the
bike pump
Procedure for parachute
Draw a line lining up with those
marks from top to the bottom
Cut down the line with a utility
knife. Draw a line from the top
corner of the board to the bottom of
the board. Draw the fins.
Take the tennis ball and place them
on the top of the rocket and tape it
down until a solid cone of tape over
the ball attaching it to the rocket
Put a hole into the cork. Thread the
needle of the pump through the
hole made in the cork.
Cut a trash bag through. Cut one side
to get a single layer. Take the uncut
corner and fold into a triangle.
Cut along the straight line and through
all layers by cutting slightly inwards. A
perfect octagon will be formed. Cut
duct tape across to produce small strips
for attaching eyelets to the parachute.
Stick them all round. Create eyelets by
using a hole puncher. Use kite strings
for the parachute.
Final Product
Carefully cut away two bottom layers
only. Get a square when opened. Now
cut the closed edge to get two similar
squares.
Fold it into triangle. Take the top
right corner and fold into a triangle
again. Take the left corner and fold it
again into another smaller triangle.
Attach string to the eyelets. Lift up
the strings. Tie a single knot when the
strings are confidently adjusted.
Fold it so that it can fit into the
rocket’s chute compartment ready to
depley.
Conclusion
Overall, I think the whole project went well, although
there were many hurdles and obstacles, we had to
overcome to complete the project. We are grateful to
our group leader, Yovella Belicia for leading the group
and guiding us throughout the whole project. We are
also thankful to our team members for successfully
building the rocket in such a short period of time.

willing to stay back to help the team out to build the
rocket.
