Achieving Your Ambitions

I have failed many, many times, and I see absolutely no shame in saying that, because why should
we feel any embarrassment in admitting that we attempted to achieve success? At the very least we
tried, for the worst failure of all is the failure to try. That is the first rule towards achieving your
ambitions. Moving past the ‘no, I just can’t. ’ attitude and realizing that you can. That the possibility is
there, and no matter how minute that chance is, the fact that it is present is all you really need.

In the words of Beth Hamilton, ‘You don’t need easy, you just need possible’. You need to commit
yourself to achieving it, realize that your fate is in your hands, and that the choices you made
yesterday and what brought you where you are today. Despite the fact you cannot erase yesterdays
mistakes, you have full power over your future. You have to work- you cannot let laziness handicap
your ambition. Rather, prioritize it, devote time and energy towards it and spill your heart out. As long
as you are willing to work for it, the light of possibility will never be extinguished.

It is essential to keep faith. In possibility, in justice, and most importantly in yourself. That you can do
it, if you work hard enough. The journey towards achieving your ambitions will be painful. The truth is,
you are going to fall many, many times. You will get your heart battered and crushed, you will hurt
and cry and complain loudly about how life is hard. It is completely normal to feel that way, it is okay
to fall and want to stay on the ground for a little while gather your breath before you tackle life once
more.

To have drive and determination to succeed does not mean not to be hurt by failure…it means to hurt,
to be upset, but inevitably keep faith. Realize that the possibility of success has not been crushed by
a simple setback on the way. Channel this disappointment into your determination to succeed,
because the importance lies not in how long you stay on the ground for, but in whether you will get
back up at all. Everybody will have a moment of weakness. A moment where sadness deep inside
your soul threatens your determination, questions your faith in yourself, and causes you to doubt your
ambitions.

A broken heart is blind, it is hard to see when doubt clouds your line of sight, and I do not want
anybody throw away your life believing you are salvaging it. When your heart aches stop trying
anyway, to find comfort in the life you have now, when it begs to stop caring, to simply water down the
passion burning within you, you must tell your heart that there will be blips along the way to success,
that the present discomfort is insignificant when compared to the joy of achieving your ambition. You
must nurture it, plead it to understand. Your word is as good as mine.

Getting up does not mean that you won’t fall again, but remembering that each time you fall you are a
little further down the road, that each time you fall you are getting back up a little faster, that you must
simply cling onto the progress you’ve made, will allow you to achieve your ambitions, for persistence
is key. It is this persistence which will be very often challenged, because working towards achieving
your ambitions means putting your heart on a silver platter and offering it to the world. It means risk. it
means knowing that some people will glance upon it critically and stomp upon your faith. ecause they
do not believe in you.

They will think they know better, that you are naive for having faith. Remember that critics are not
always right. That even The Beatles were rejected by Decca Records, told that guitar groups were on
their way out and that they had no future in show business. That Walt Disney fired for having no
creativity, told that he lacked imagination and had no good ideas. Embrace the obstacles that come
across your way, for they are there for you to prove your worth- they are not there to stop you, but are
there to show you and show the world how much you are willing to fight for what you want.

All these setbacks amount to are a few bruises on your heart, but as long as the determination never
wilts, you can do anything you set your heart to. In life, everything happens for a reason, and
beginning with a failure does not mean you will always fail. Keep faith wrapped around your heart to
keep it from falling apart, and remember that the bitter taste of failure simply makes the taste of
success even sweeter. The road to achieving ambitions is fraught with difficulty…but I am determined-
I challenge you. Join me on the road to achieving our ambitions, and I’ll race you to the good life.
