SUBJECT Amendments to Department Order No.

71, Series of 2003, Relative to the
Limits of Assignment of Accredited
Materials Engineers of the
Contractors' and Consultants'

Inasmuch as there are already sufficient number of accredited Materials

Engineers to be assigned by Contractors and Consultants to supervise a wider
coverage of projects being implemented by the DPWH, Department Order No.
71, Series of 2003 is hereby further amended as follows:

Starting January 2007, only accredited materials engineers may be

assigned to DPWH projects, subject to the following limits of assignment.

Classification Rank Limits of Assignment

Materials Engineer n One (1) project, no cost limit or

Two (2) projects located within the same

province with an aggregate cost of PI 0 Million
but not more than P30 Million

Materials Engineer I One (1) project costing not more than PIOO
Million or

Three (3) projects located within the same

province with an aggregate cost of PI Million but
not more than P3 Million

Likewise, contractors may assign a non-accredited mateiials engineer to

every DPWH project costing below PI Million.

Except for the above amendments, the other provisions of Department

Order No. 184, Series of 1999 and Department Order No. 71, Series of 2003,
shall remain in force.

This order supersedes all issuances issued contrary hereto and shall take
effect immediately.
