4.2 Description
Note: The ±12 V is produced on the board. By this way, when the instrument roof is open, the safety cuts
the 230VAC mains supply of the board. The complete regulation is then stopped, as well as the
fans.
The 24 V of the B electronic rack is also brought to the board, for supplying opto-couplers and a reference
voltage.
4.2.2 Ventilation
The oven's transverse fan is supplied by +12 V and -12 V and is protected by the 0.5 A fuse. This fan
propels the air through an aluminium nozzle under the spectrometer. Nine heating resistors are fixed to the
inside of the nozzle.
The VENTILOK check signal is not used by the ICS34B, so it is not described in this manual.
Note: Two other fans (four in the case of the VUV option) powered by 230 VAC increase the air speed
inside the oven enclosure and contribute to improve the thermal stability. The power of these fans
is also cut by the safety (roof open).
Here the sensor is mounted on a small circuit (S701655) with two capacitors and a resistor. The small circuit
is installed into the oven, so as the sensor touches the spectrometer casting; we therefore measure the spec-
trometer temperature, and not the oven's air one!
The measurement signal arrives on the regulator board on J1/3 and is directed to the status measurement cir-
cuit and the regulation circuit as well. The voltage is 0 V for 0°C, and the response is of 10 mV/°C.
The amplifier has a gain of 10, therefore the signal at its output corresponds to 100 mV/°C. At the nominal
oven's temperature of 37.5°C, Us = 3.75 V, that gives 75 kHz at the converter output of the status board. As
the status reading is done in 100 ms, this corresponds to 7500 counts.
The W1 jumper at the output of the amplifier must be set between 1 and 2 for the use with the S702217 or
S703071 Status board.
