Are you familiar with the following jargons in community development? Let us see if you can
identify the important concept based on the picture below. You are given 15 minutes to
observe what is in the picture. Relate the picture to the different concept of community
development in 300 words to be submitted in one whole sheet of paper.

People in the pictures shown are collectively engaged and helping each other out.
People are planning to make the community more better and everyone is participating on
that. Leaders or officials in the community often plan on how to make the community a
better place for everyone.

The main objective of community development is working to make the people aware
from various problems in a community. It helps them to provide knowledge and to know
about the main causes affects their social life. People must acknowledge the fact that there
is a problem in the community and they should listen to understand what the problem is
and how to solve it just like pictures 4 and 5. There should always be assemblies in order to
disseminate plans, problems, projects and so on. Community development doesn't
necessarily solve problems in a city; it reduces problems and increases opportunities for
growth.

Community participation may also help ensure the more equitable distribution of
benefits, by facilitating access to these benefits by politically or economically weak groups.
Resource mobilization, taking the forms of labour, materials, or money, is much easier when
beneficiaries are committed to a project. Community becomes more responsible, organized
and plan together to develop healthy lifestyles options and empower themselves to reduce
poverty and suffering in the community to create and opportunities and achieve social,
economic, cultural and environmental goals just like in pictures 1, 2 and 3.
Part II: Consider the diagram below. What is it about communities that give us a sense of
belonging? Fill in the blank squares with your responses. (30pts)

pictures and key words to illustrate these on your drawings. What makes your community unique
from other communities? What does ‘community’ mean to you?

My community is pretty unique compared to other communities because we are all nice
here, we treat each other fairly and our officials and leaders are very active and
compassionate.
For me, Community is the social structure that mediates between the individual resident
and the state and private elites, guiding social transactions between these different worlds
to advance and protect the interests and needs of individuals and groups within
neighborhoods or local communities.
