2. Technical Service Training
Caterpillar Energy Solutions Inc. Training Center is located at the Caterpillar
Energy Solutions facility in Duluth/Georgia.

The Atlanta Training Team is composed of


engineers and technicians with proven industrial
and product expertise.
2. Technical Service Training
• Caterpillar Energy Solutions has implemented a system of Competence Levels (CL)
for product service.

• This system was developed and successfully implemented to ensure that only
sufficiently trained and qualified service technicians perform certain maintenance /
troubleshooting operations.

• There are 3 Competence Levels that could be summarized as below:


Ø CL1 Operation and simple maintenance.
Ø CL2 Basic maintenance and adjustments, includes cylinder head and piston
disassembly and assembly.
Ø CL3 Full Service Provider - desired CAT Dealer level, includes major overhaul.

2. Technical Service Training
Engine Control System / TEM – Total Electronic Management / Service DONGLE.

• The TEM system access is protected by a USB dongle / hard-lock.

• Existing dongle level:


Ø Level 0 Operator (no dongle).
Ø Level 100 Advanced / trained Operator (Customer).
Ø Level 200 Trained Service Technician.
2. Technical Service Training
Engine Control System / TEM – Total Electronic Management / Service DONGLE.

• A successful completion of the TEM EVO training is required to order a USB dongle
level 200.

Ø There is a one time fee of €1200 per service dongle level 200.
Ø The dongle requires annual update. The annual fee is €120.
Ø A TEM refresher training is required three years after the initial of a Dongle. The
refresher training is two days course.

2. Technical Service Training
Caterpillar dealers have access to the comprehensive CAT Energy Solutions training program offered
in Duluth, Georgia.

• For experienced Caterpillar Dealer gas engine service technicians EPD Gas is offering a
technical training* program in Duluth, Georgia in the period from:

Ø Session I (ENG) : February 3 – 14, 2014


Ø Session II (SPA): March 31 – April 11, 2014
Ø Session III (ENG): June 9 – 20, 2014
Ø Session IV (SPA): August 11- 22, 2014
Ø Session V (ENG): October 13- 24, 2014

• The program contains:


Ø CAT Energy Solutions gas engine basics (2 days).
Ø Control System TEM-EVO Level 200 (5 days).
Ø Mechanical Training CL2 (+)
• CG132 (3 days) or
• CG170 (3 days) or
• CG260 (3 days) * available for session III ,IV and V

* E: Electrical Service / Commissioning Engineer Training


2. Technical Service Training

• Prerequisites for this program are as follows:


Ø 5 years or more of service experience with gen-sets.
Ø 2 years or more of service experience with gas gen-sets.

Ø Advanced experience with gas engine commissioning & troubleshooting.


Ø Completion of "3500 Master Mechanic" course, or equivalent advanced service
experience.
Ø successful completion of Caterpillar training courses listed below, or equivalent
experience:
• "G3500 Lean Burn Engines" or “G3500 C&E Electronic Engine”.
• CEP III, Caterpillar Electric Power III.
