MATERNITY LEAVE POLICY at glance

Eligibility

 Any female employee (executive cadre i.e. white uniform) of ALLEN who is not covered
under the ESI Act, 1948 and has completed 80 days of continuous service with the Institute
in 12 month, immediately preceding the date of her expected delivery is eligible for
Maternity Leaves.
 Employee is entitled to Maternity Leave with pay Twenty Six weeks (182 Days), of which not
more than Eight weeks (56 Days) shall precede the date of her expected delivery.
 Eligibility of benefit is restricted up to two surviving children only.

Condition for claiming benefits

 The applicant must inform about her pregnancy to the Corporate HR, minimum 2 months in
advance before proceeding on leave.
 The application should be supported by a medical certificate confirming the pregnancy and
expected date of delivery.
 Maternity Leave can be combined with earned AL and SEL with prior approval.
 AL/SEL will be credited in subsequent year after reducing as per each 20 LWP = 1 AL/SEL in
preceding leave year.
 Unavailed Maternity Leave is not subject to encashment.
 The weekly offs and holidays falling during the Maternity Leave period will be part of the
leaves availed.
 In normal circumstances, if employee does not resume her duties post maternity benefit
stipulated in below table, it will be treated as unauthorized leave. Consequently, disciplinary
action will be initiated.

Leave without pay

 Leaves without Pay are approved leaves with prior approval minimum 7 days in advance,
which can be sanctioned only when employee is medically un-fit and unable to resume her
duties.
 In such cases, the employee will be required to produce a medical certificate stating the
valid reason for such leaves.

Sanctioning Authority

 Department Head in coordination with Corporate HR.

Pay Benefit

Institute will credit maternity benefit amount (salary) in employee’s bank account as per the payroll
cycle for the stated period.
