SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS FOR GRADE 2

I. OBJECTIVES:

•Understand the proper way of witting and reading numbers up to 1000 (cognitive)

•Appreciate numbers up to 1000 (affective)

•Demonstrate understanding of numbers up to 1000 in symbols and in words. (psychomotor)

II. CONTENT

Subject Matter: Understand and learn how to write numbers in symbols and in words up to 1000.

Reference: MELC's Mathematics Grade 2, Week 2. M2NS- Ic-9.2

Materials: Colorful popsicle stick, television, flashcards.

III. PROCEDURES

A. Preparation and Routine Activity

1. Greetings

Good morning children! How are you today?

2. Prayers

Before prayer: Please stand up, *Assign one of your student to lead the prayer*

Dear Father God,


Thank You for this wonderful day! Please be with us today.
Fill our hearts with joy, love, hope and happiness.
Fill our minds with learning.
Fill our classroom with peace.
Fill our lessons with fun.
Fill our friendship with kindness.
And fill our school with love.
We pray in the almighty name of Jesus. Amen.

Before the prayer: Now, you may take your sits.

3. Checking of attendance

The teacher will call the students name to know whose absents today.
4. Review

The teacher will ask the students about the previous topic that they tackled yesterday.

Example: How to write number symbols from 1 up to 100.

5. Motivation

The students will ask to stand up and group themselves into 5, 4, 12 and so on (depending on the
teachers choice of numbers). This game is called "The boat is sinking."

B. Developmental Activity

1. Presentation of the lesson

The teacher group them into 5 groups. and each groups have 3 members each. The teacher gave each
groups a colorful popsicle sticks. and each groups must answer the following questions;

•How many blue popsicle sticks do you have?

•I have 21 yellow popsicle sticks. how do you write 21 in words?

•how many popsicle sticks do you have in all? write your answer in words.

•how many popsicle sticks do you have in all? write your answer in symbolic numbers.

2. Lesson Proper

•As you notice. I gave each groups a popsicle sticks. Last time we tackled about how to read and writes
numbers up to 100, but this time we will discussed how to read and write numbers up to 1000.

•How do you write 225? (Two hundred twenty five) there is always a 'TY' when we are reading or writing
the words Twen-TY, Thir-TY, Four-TY. so on and so fort.

•Six hundrend Sixteen.- In here, there is always 'Teen' when we are reading or writing the words, Thir-
TEEN, Six-TEEN, Seven-TEEN so on and so fort.

•How about, how do you write in words the number 44? It is not Fourty four. it should be Forty Four.
Forty is the proper spelling of the number in all English variants despite the fact that four contains a u.

C. APPLICATION
The students will have a recitation, in which they will write the proper way of writting numbers up to
1000 in words and in symbols below, after that, the class will read what their classmates answered in
the blackboard.

•561- Five hundred sixty-one.

•444- Four hundred forty four.

•981- Nine hundred eighty-one

•395- Three hundred ninety five.

D. GENERALIZATION

The students will fully understand what is the importance of reading and writing numbers up to 1000.
The Teacher will ask what are the numbers when she raise the number card.

E. VALUING

Appreciate and Understand the lessons, numbers up to 1000 to apply in real life situation.
