The connecting rod (1) attaches to the piston at one end and the crankshaft at the

other. It changes the up and down motion of the piston into the rotary motion of the
crankshaft.

A press fit bushing is inserted into the piston pin bore in the smaller end of the
connecting rod. This bushing allows free movement of the connecting rod around the
piston pin. You may also hear this bushing referred to as the “wrist pin bushing”.
