REQUIRED CONDITIONS FOR LPG FUEL

1. Having a moderate steam pressure: 98 to 981 kPa (1 to 10 kgf/cm2).
2. Good antiknock properties
3. Low olefinic hydrocarbon
4. Low content of tarry constituents
A moderate steam pressure is required because the engine cannot be started in the cold season if the steam
pressure is too low (propane has lower pressure). The engine can be started comfortably when the constant steam
pressure (pressure in the container) is 98 kPa (1 kgf/cm2) or higher. On the other hand, an excessively high steam
pressure may cause problems in instruments.
The composition of LPG needs to be examined to satisfy the required conditions. The following figure shows a
general relation between the temperature and pressure of mixed gas.
