SPARK PLUG
INSPECTION
1. Clean the spark plug using spark plug cleaner.
2. Inspect the spark plug and replace it if any abnormality is
found.

3. Inspect the plug cap.

Standard: 0.7 to 0.8 mm (0.028 to 0.031 in.)

IGNITION COIL
+B GND

INSPECTION

Inspection of the vehicle side ignition voltage

1. Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
2. Measure the voltage between +B and GND of the connector
on the vehicle harness.
Standard: Approx. 12 V

Spark check
Note:
Since the igniter built-in ignition coil cannot be checked with a
tester, perform a spark check as a coil inspection.
1. Remove the ignition coil and spark plug.
2. Disconnect the fuel injector connector.
3. Install the spark plug to the ignition coil, and connect the
connector.
4. Establish a ground by bringing the thread of the spark plug into
contact with the metallic face of the engine unit.
5. Crank the engine and check that sparking occurs between the
spark plug electrodes.
6. If there is a spark plug that does not produce a spark, replace it
with the one used for another cylinder. After that, check again
to know whether the abnormality is resulted from the defective
plug or coil.
