REPORT ON SPECIAL ASSEMBLY - INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

“Walk with peace and conquer the world with love.”

“We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves”.
Peace is a word that cannot be repeated enough times. It is an element that affects personal
lives as well as global relationships.

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN
General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace,
through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.

But achieving true peace entails much more than laying down arms.  It requires the building of
societies where all members feel that they can flourish. It involves creating a world in which
people are treated equally, regardless of their race.

Keeping the same in mind, a special assembly was conducted by the students of Grade IV C
at Blue Bells Public School. With unsurpassed joy and vigour, they expressed gratitude and
respect to the people who worked hard to create peace in the world.  Assembly initiated with
a prayer followed by news and thought for the day.
On this occasion, the students came dressed up as famous personalities as APJ Abdul Kalam,
Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, Barack Obama etc. to spread the message of peace. The other
students shared their experiences that how they were inspired by these great personalities.

As we know that on 2nd October, we celebrate Birthday of two great personalities. Father of
our nation Mahatma Gandhi and the Man of Peace, Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Their role played as Freedom Fighters and the messenger of peace was highlighted by few
students in their vibrant speech. The assembly came to a closure with a thoughtful message
spreading through a beautiful song on the significance of this day. A beautiful dance
performance left the audience awe-struck.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Madam Meenakshi Malhotra, Primary Wing
Leader, sensitized the students to build a vision for a world of deeper compassion and
spreading their message of hope to live in a world where peace and love prevail.
The assembly was concluded with paying respect to the nation by singing National Anthem
and the School song.
