Quarter 3 – Module 1:
Reproductive Hormones
Introductory Message
For the facilitator:
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to
use this module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress
while allowing them to manage their own learning at home.
Furthermore, you are expected to encourage and assist the learners as
they do the tasks included in the module.

Let Us Learn
Welcome! This module will help you understand, how hormones facilitate the
reproductive system to function properly.
After going through this module, you are expected to:
• Identify the hormones involved in the female and male reproductive
systems; and
• Explain the role of hormones involved in the female and male
reproductive systems (S10LT-IIIb-34).

HORMONE
Gonadotropin Releasing Hypothalamus
• Stimulates the
Hormone (GnRH)
pituitary gland to
release Follicle
Stimulating Hormone
(FSH) and Luteinizing
Hormone (LH).
Follicle Stimulating Pituitary Gland
• Follicle stimulators of
Hormone (FSH)
the ovaries and testes
to begin the production
of egg cells and sperm
cells.
• Stimulates the
synthesis of sex steroid
hormones (estrogen,
progesterone, and
testosterone).
Luteinizing Hormone Pituitary Gland
• Aids the FSH to hasten
(LH)
the maturity of egg
cells and sperm cells
by producing more
estrogen and
testosterone.
Testosterone Testes/ Adrenal
• Increases sperm cell

maturity
• Facilitates
development of male
primary and secondary
sex characteristics

such as deepening of
voice as vocal chords
thicken, lengthen, and
mature; and testicle
enlargement due to the
increased production
and maturity of sperm
cells.
Ovaries
• Maintains healthy
reproductive tissues
Estrogen Ovaries
• Stimulates the
(Sex Steroid Hormone)
maturity of egg cells
• Responsible for the
development of
primary female
secondary sex
characteristics such as
breast development
where fats are collected
in the breast’s
connective tissues
causing it to enlarge
• Thickens the uterine
lining during ovulation
Adrenal Gland
• Aids in the maturity of
sperm cells
Progesterone Ovaries
• Aids estrogen in the
(Sex Steroid Hormone)
thickening of the
uterine lining
Testes
• Stimulates the
production of
testosterone

Questions:
Good Job! The next activity is for you to relate the role of reproductive
hormones in the body changes you have experienced during puberty.

Let Us Practice More
5
Let Us Remember
• Progesterone also a sex steroid hormone aids estrogen for egg cell
maturity and in the thickening of endometrium or lining of the uterus.
It also promotes the production of testosterone in men.
6
Let Us Assess
Read the questions carefully. Choose the letter of the best answer and
write it on a separate sheet of paper.
7
8. Which of these roles of reproductive hormones will eventually lead to
menstruation?
A. Maturation of the egg cell
B. Thickening of the vaginal wall
C. Synthesis of sex steroid hormones
D. Thickening of the lining of the uterus.
12. Which of the following roles of hormones explains the changes in the
physical appearance of the external genitalia of the male and female
reproductive part in the onset of puberty?
A. Stimulation of follicle
B. Production of sperm and egg cell
C. Regulation of the production of GnRH
D. Development of male and female secondary sex characteristics
13. How will you explain why men produced higher levels of testosterone
than women?
A. Testosterone plays an important role in male traits and
reproductive activity
B. Testosterone plays an important role in female traits and
reproductive activity
C. Testosterone is necessary for normal sexual development of
females.
D. Testosterone is produced only by male body for sexual maturity.
14. What part of the brain will release relatively high amount of hormones
that will initiate the start of sexual maturity?
A. Pituitary gland C. Cerebrum
B. Hypothalamus D. Cerebellum
8
15. Which of the following is the primary female sex hormone?
A. Estrogen C. Progesterone
B. Testosterone D. Androgen
Let Us Enhance
Direction: Study the concept map and summarize the concepts by filling in
the blanks with the hormones to help explain how they affect the reproductive
systems.
Good job for accomplishing the module. You may now give your learning
insights for this Lesson by answering the question in the “Let Us Reflect”
