Introduction
During this block we have been able to learn a lot about the importance of getting to
know our company, in this case MQPS, since every little bit is important in order to
discover and develop the concept of shared value and the superior purpose of a
company, not However, in order to achieve this, we must analyze the company from
its philosophical perspective, that is, its vision, mission and values, and based on this,
we can choose to decide which strategy MQPS requires to empower itself and achieve
its objectives.
On the other hand, we will also learn about social responsibility and the
responsibilities that companies have with society, because, to the date in which we
find ourselves, our ideologies and thoughts have changed, in such a way that we find
ourselves immersed in a world in what we should not only take care of ourselves, but
also what we should focus on taking care of our environment, therefore, in this report
we will analyze the environmental practices that the company carries out as well as
what to look for and offer actions that could be carried out to contribute with the
SDGs.
Purpose-driven companies hold their leaders accountable for achieving the purpose
and create a culture that equally engages the entire organization. Therefore, it is
essential to emphasize that the corporate purpose should not be fulfilled affecting the
viability of the business.
Now, referring to the company "MQPS", having read the raw case in the digital library
and researched the company's own sources; we were able to reach the conclusion that
the corporate purpose is not present or visible to the view of other viewers and
customers; Therefore, we personally take care of creating and proposing the most
adaptable and viable purpose for the company based on its corporate philosophy.
Therefore, the most viable purpose for “MQPS” can be defined as the search for
positioning as a competitive company in the Mexican and international market of the
sauces and condiments segment, offering the best quality of products and presentation
to the market; thus promoting the local economy through the labor support provided to
the manufacturers of the E+Ki brand that are local suppliers of the traditional raw
material.
Corporate philosophy
Although our company does not have a defined corporate purpose, it does not mean
that it does not have one, it simply does not bring it up on its website or in the Raw
Case that was given to us, however, there are elements that could be relevant to the
creation of its purpose, that is why I will mention what we were able to rescue from
the aforementioned databases.
Mision: Transform and sell processed gourmet products through certificate production
process to give alternatives to the local and global customers with mexican products
with regional taste and identity.
Values:
- Honesty: The truth will be ever simple and overwhelming
- Results oriented: To achieve the goal is the most important
- Teamwork: We respect and we collaborate with the integrity of the persons and
ideas that contribute with added value
- Trust: The becoming attitude to an idea or person
- Loyalty: Honor and unconditional gratitude to the values
- Responsibility: To keep the word and work to the end and to the environment
Certificates:
- Food Facility Certificate of Registration
- System of good hygiene practices (NORMEX)
- México Calidad Suprema “Pequeño Productor” (SAGARPA)
Shared value proposition
The concept of shared value, according to Porter and Kramer, can be defined as
business practices that from their conception have the dual purpose of providing
profits for the organization and improving the social, environmental or economic
conditions of a specific population related to the company.
However, according to studies carried out by Harvard University, companies can
create shared value in three ways: by reconceiving products and markets, redefining
productivity in the value chain, and strengthening local clusters. All three require a
sufficiently robust market ecosystem. A collective-impact approach may not always
be needed for the first two activities, but it is always necessary at the cluster level.
However, one point in favor of "MQPS" is that the material of the containers used to
package the product is glass; a glass bottle can be reused between 40 and 60 times
with an energy cost of 5% compared to the cost of recycling it. This is, therefore, the
best option from an environmental point of view, so the container could be reused;
however, there is a disadvantage and that is that not all people are aware of the
importance of the 3Rs (Reduce, reuse and recycle) and this can be due to many
reasons such as lack of taste for packaging design, lack of culture , among other.
Taking all these points into account, our proposal is based on maximizing the
awareness, taste and commitment of customers for the culture of reuse of packaging.
The main idea focuses on improving the redesign of the packaging image; adding a
touch of Mexican culture to the designs of the sauces of the E+ki brand. These designs
will be created by local Mexican artists, so another benefit will be to stimulate the
Mexican economy by generating more jobs as well as promoting Mexican artistic
talent. It is important to highlight that this value proposition promotes the UN's
sustainability objective number 12, which has a focus on responsible consumption and
production.
Stakeholder analysis
- External stakeholders: those who do not work directly with a company but
who are somehow affected by the company's actions and results. For example,
providers.
- Owners: As CEO of the company, Juan Carlos Villegas envisions the growth of
the company, provides value through its management, maximizes profits and
delivers value to each of the employees so that they function correctly in the
company and that MQPS can deliver quality products.
- Employees: The collaborators develop in the company through their daily
tasks, areas of specialization and a good work environment; they are trained,
obtain important skills and execute them in the company through the
achievement of the stated objectives. Their means of compensation is through
competitive salaries.
- Universities: Universities can make agreements with this company so that the
company can communicate their concerns, certain problems or challenges to
face to the universities and that students can add value through their knowledge
to the solution of concerns; In the same way, this company can be a candidate
for university students to do their internships so that they acquire the necessary
knowledge and skills by the time they graduate.
- Investors: Investors will benefit when they receive the expected returns for the
monetary amount invested in the company in exchange for a percentage of
shares.
- Suppliers: Suppliers benefit through the increase in demand for certain raw
materials or products. The company will always look for the lowest prices for
raw materials in the market and will be loyal to the best prices and suppliers
that offer quality products. In addition to the economic benefits, this process
creates space for innovation and allows strategic supplies to integrate more
tightly into the company's value chain.
MQPS Sustainability:
- Jar Packaging: As the products are in glass containers, they can be kept
for a longer time, because the glass works as a fence for bacteria,
keeping them away because it is a material that does not rust and in turn
is the only material in contact with foods that the US Food and Drug
Administration considers safe. In the same way, another benefit that we
find is that we can reuse the container an unlimited number of times, so
we would be giving it another use, taking care of the environment in a
certain way.
In our case, analyzing MAPS and in relation to the actions mentioned above,
this company supports and contributes to the following objectives:
- GOAL 1: No Poverty
- GOAL 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
- GOAL 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
- GOAL 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
- GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
- GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
- GOAL 13: Climate Action
- GOAL 15: Life on Land
- GOAL 17: Partnerships to achieve the Goal
