Recorded VAWC Case in the Philippines

This case happened last 2020, wherein a forty-one-year-old woman was

arrested for forcing her three children to do sexual acts on camera. The youngest
victim is a five-year-old. The household resided in Caloocan City. Inside the house
were gadgets found at the sala, such as a computer monitor, mobile phone, and a
remittance receipt from Australia.
Another similar case was from Luzon, too. A twenty-five-year-old woman
making seven kids do lewd acts in front of a webcam, wherein four of those are her
children, and the youngest victim is only three-year-old.
These two cases happened during lock-down.

REFLECTION

During the lockdown, home is the safest place we could be. But what if the
safe place we thought was also the place that would bring us great danger?
Sometimes, home is not just a place, a building, or a shed. It could also be a
person. I am close to my mum. She is the one I always look for whenever I get home
from school. I believe mothers do not only know what is best. They can be our
protectors, buddy, and advisor. Knowing those crimes committed by women who are
also mothers made me question their dignity and motherhood. Why do they have to
do that? If their concern is a financial problem, why do they have to resort to selling
their children online and not think of other solutions? I wonder how they felt while
committing that crime, and it is disturbing that younger children - aging from three to
five years old - were engaged.
Just like them, I am also a woman and a child. I could not imagine how those
children felt and would recover from the trauma caused by someone they thought they
could trust. Women are not the only ones considered as vulnerable; children too. As a
child, I want to grow up in a safe environment with a family full of love.
I will have my own family someday. I have to make sure that I prioritize my
children's safety. I have to secure that they will grow up and live with a family full of
love. As a woman, I must find a man who will be a good father for my future
children. Not only to secure my rights and safety but for my children too.
