COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT, SOLIDARITY AND CITIZENSHIP

I. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the learners must be able to:
1. recognize the value of undertaking community action modalities;
2. acknowledge interrelationship of self and community in undertaking community
action; and
3. analyze factors and make use of theories in describing and explaining the occurrence
of social change
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
a. Topic: Community Action
Content Standard:
1. The learners demonstrate an understanding of the integration of social science
perspective and community action initiatives
b. Materials: laptop, television, power point presentation, paper, box

III. PROCEDURE:
Performance Standard: The learners shall be able to synthesize the integrative experience of
implementing community-action initiatives applying social sciences’ ideas and methods

• The teacher will show some clips and the class are going to guess the movements or
actions shown in each gif, which is an animated loop. Don’t forget to raise your hand if
you would like to answer.”

ACTIVITY: WAIS NA MAMAMAYAN!


• The class will be grouped into four groups. Each group will propose their ideal
community project using the following format and criteria. The group will also present
their finished output in class.

• An empty box will be given to the class that says, “Community Pantry.” Now, the class
will write on a piece of paper the things they would want to put or donate inside the box
and will pass it to his or her seatmate.

• “If you are given another chance to do a community service or community development
project, how would you improve it?”
• “How does it feel to give something without expecting anything in return?”

IV. EVALUATION:
A. Analyze the following situations and identify the modality used in each type of community
engagement. (2 points each)

2. What are the actions taken by your fellow community members to start those said projects?
