 What is Systematic Biology

 Systematic Biology is where organisms are being properly named, described, and
arranged based on their degree of relatedness to already known organisms. It
provides order among the wide array of organisms on this planet. Through this,
organisms can be tracked and be studied properly despite their diversity because
we have a system in place.

 Give 5 importance of Systematic Biology

 It creates a system in place to organize organisms

 It helps in relating newly discovered organisms to already known organisms

based on their similarities

 It can narrow down a specific taxon being studied based on its characteristics and
relationships

 It prevents confusion and inconsistencies among organisms that were and still
being discovered

 It helps in describing, identifying, naming, and classifying organisms

 How is Systematic Biology connected to your course

 Systematic Biology is related to Medical Biology because the microorganisms

such as bacteria, virus and parasites that can cause disease and illness have their
own groupings that follow the same concept of systematics. An example of
application would be thorough the similarities of newly discovered bacteria to a
known bacteria, we could use the data for similar treatment.
