What is financial stress?

Financial stress is a state of worry, anxiety, or emotional tension related

to money, debt, and upcoming or current expenses. Paying for education (school fees and
examination fees), daily uses and basic requirements for studies can all cause a student to feel
financial pressure or stress. Financial pressure has been an issue for years, but has recently
become an even larger issue than previously thought.

Most of the schools charge a lot except government schools. Government schools are mostly
free of charge in almost everything. On the other hand, private schools and international schools
need to pay monthly fees and extra costs for textbooks. So, most normal students have to come
across financial difficulties in the field of education. Exam fees are also high in international
examinations such as IGCSE(International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and
IELTS( International English Language Testing System).

The next thing I want to talk about is about the daily uses of students. It is also a part of the
financial stress. The daily uses include transportation costs and survival costs. Transportation
costs may be high if you live far away from school. (For example, if you go to school on a bus or
a ferry, you will need to pay the charges depending on the distance of the journey.) Survival
costs include food and accommodation costs or living expenses in large proportions and taxes in
small proportions. (Students need to eat food to be strong and to get energy so that they can
study their lessons well in order to get high achievements in the exams. ) So, many students and
their parents usually get stressed for it.

The last thing I wanna mention about is the fundamental needs of a student for their studies
(Example, stationeries, smartphones, laptops, PCs, scientific calculators and etc.) Especially in
Covid period, smartphones or laptops are a must for every student to have so that they can
learn online classes. But unfortunately, some people can’t really afford to buy them. In
conclusion, financial stress takes part in the stress and anxiety amongst students. It also
depends on the students. To overcome the financial stress and to have more fulfilling lives,
students should use money wisely in the correct fields and only on their needs and just to study
hard so that they would be able to get excellent gradings to get scholarships.
