PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION IN READINGS IN PHILIPPINE HISTORY

Instruction: Answer the following questions in your own words.

1. Why do you think history sometimes can be subjective or objective?

Since specific occasions happened such a long time ago, and on the grounds that occasionally the evidence is
incomplete, Most broad and essential verifiable articulations are far more subjective than objective. A few objective
assertions can be made, similar to The Second Great War occurred. History is the study of the past, the issue is that
the past is gone, it is never coming back. We can't time travel, thus we can't at any point notice the object of our
examination straightforwardly, we can notice the effects it left on individuals and things. One more issue with that
will be that witnesses are untrustworthy, and the volume of information is once in a while tremendous. The issue
with being objective, here is that there is certainly not a logical norm for what is or isn’t important, and numerous
historians over a wide span of time, view themselves as judges of this generally.

Different historians have different approaches and views about what happened in the past. This is the subjective
nature of history. One historian claims an event happened a certain way, while another disagrees completely.
Various historians have various methodologies and perspectives about what occurred in the past. This is the abstract
idea of history. One historian guarantees an occasion happened a specific way, while another differs totally. On the
off chance that you study Roman history, There is a truly restricted measure of information to read. It is not too
difficult to imagine for a single person to read all sources from the time span and even so there are vastly different
interpretations of Roman history. This is on the grounds that historians are people as well, and basically the
occupation of a historian is to read and decipher sources, examine them, and distribute ends which are undeniably
less words than the first sources.

In any case, as this is what history is, you can see that objective history is very difficult, what is significant is an
subjective assessment, which sources to choose is subjective, how they are read is subjective, the importance of
the expressions of the past is subjective, the structure of reference you can apply to a text is subjective. There
are as numerous verifiable interpretations of history, as there are historians.

2. What is the importance of artifacts in history?

It is important to protect or preserve artifacts from historical events so we can recall or remember and find
out about what they did or how it happened and also to honor the people who were involved and how they
became a hero of our country. At the point when an artifact is moderated to hold its ongoing condition, it
protects the reality of the truth of the historical story for a long time into the future.

3. How does history become incomplete? What are the causes of incompleteness of resources in history?

Each historical record is incomplete in light of the fact that important sources have been lost or destroyed
because of wars etc. Another issue is that the sources which in all actuality do survive are somewhat
unrepresentative and uninformed, yet are frequently deliberately misleading.

4. Give an example of an important historical event in the Philippines that greatly affects our present
situation.

At the point when we were colonized by other countries like spanish and americans. It influences what is
happening since they showed us how to communicate in different languages like English and spanish word
which we still have until now as proofs that almost everything we use or say comes from Spanish words like
those used in the kitchen (tinidor, plato and so on) even on how we say kitchen in tagalog (kusina) it is also
comes from Spanish words not just in words of course also our culture, religion and foods are affected almost
all filipinos are catholic and our biggest celebration is christmas. of course it won't disappear since almost

spanish which is chavacano and when it comes to english it become our 2nd language With this, we had the
option to speak with other far off nations and assisted us with securing positions with higher benefits. It
likewise assisted us with speaking with other unfamiliar individuals when we were outside our nation
searching for a job and for welcoming foreigners or tourists who visit the country.

It affects my life not only as a student but as a person living here in our country by having a new life in another
way of living. Through history, we can learn how past societies, systems, ideologies, governments, cultures and
technologies were built, how they operated, and how they have changed but also through History I - we rather
- Developing an Understanding not just of the World but also provides us with a sense of identity, it gives us
the opportunity to learn from others' past mistakes. It helps us understand the many reasons why people may
behave the way they do and to understand the immense complexity of our world and therefore enables one to
