Learning Activity 2A: Describe each category.

Learning Skills: these are skills that involve the mental processes necessary to adjust to and
enhance a modern work environment. These skills are considered the universal need for any
career. And these comprise the 4 C’s which are: Critical thinking (finding solutions to problems),
Creativity (thinking outside the box), Collaboration (working with others), and Communication
(talking to others).

Literacy Skills: these are skills that focus on the ability to distinguish between facts, publishing
platforms, and the technology that underlies them. Finding reliable sources and genuine
information is a top priority in order to distinguish it from the false information that permeates
the Internet. These skills are sometimes called IMT skills. I stands for Information Literacy
which is a fundamental skill that aids students in comprehending facts, particularly data points,
that they would run across online. Furthermore, it teaches children how to distinguish between
fact and fiction. M stands for Media Literacy which is being able to identify publishing
techniques, channels, and sources while separating the reliable ones from the unreliable ones.
Lastly, T stands for Technology Literacy which means having the fundamental knowledge
required to comprehend what gadgets do and why.

Life Skills: these are skills that give emphasis to the intangible aspects of a person's daily
existence. These soft skills emphasize both professional and personal attributes. These skills are
also called FLIPS as an acronym for the following skills: F is for Flexibility which is the ability
to adjust plans if necessary. L is for Leadership which means empowering a group to achieve an
objective. I is for Initiative that is initiating one's own ideas, tactics, and plans. P is for
Productivity which is retaining progress in a world full of distractions. And finally, S is for
Social skills which is the ability to interact with others and networking with them for mutual
benefit.
Learning activity 2B: Categorize the following 21st century skills into three: Learning skills,
Literacy skills, and Life skills using an appropriate graphic organizer.
