MIPI WG Decision Fundamentals
Consensus: Votes:
– The preferred method for reaching most group – When consensus proves impossible, a group can
decisions hold votes.
– MIPI’s definition = “no sustained objection” – Companies are eligible to vote based on meeting
– Permits group to reach unified opinion attendance: MIPI policy: “2 of the most recent 4
meetings.”
– Also permits companies to “agree to disagree” but
move forward when there is an obvious – Votes can be taken electronically (eVote) or live in
majority/minority split meeting.

Voting Duration & Approval Thresholds

Extended duration (>10 days) 2/3 majority of eligible YES/NO votes received

Short duration or instantaneous 3/4 majority of all possible eligible votes

Specification Requirements Proposal (SRP)
When a WG identifies a need for a new specification or a revision
to an existing specification, it scopes the details in a SRP form and
agrees by consensus or vote.

The SRP is designed to improve the process by providing the

Marketing Steering Group, Technical Steering Group and Board a
mechanism for feedback on:
• Technical requirements
• Marketing requirements
• Market analysis
• Applications/industry segments
• Strategy
• Roadmap schedule
• Spec dependencies
• Justifications for revision/release
• Key features/functions

CONFIDENTIAL 23 | © 2021 MIPI Alliance, Inc.

SRP Process

All MIPI specifications are

required to have an SRP form
submitted by the WG to the TSG,
MSG, and Board.
