MIPI WG Decision Fundamentals
Consensus:
– The preferred method for reaching most group
decisions
– MIPI’s definition = “no sustained objection”
– Permits group to reach unified opinion
– Also permits companies to “agree to disagree” but
move forward when there is an obvious
majority/minority split
Votes:
– When consensus proves impossible, a group can
hold votes.
– Companies are eligible to vote based on meeting
attendance: MIPI policy: “2 of the most recent 4
meetings.”
– Votes can be taken electronically (eVote) or live in
meeting.

Extended duration (>10 days) 2/3 majority of eligible YES/NO votes received

Short duration or instantaneous 3/4 majority of all possible eligible votes

Specification Requirements Proposal (SRP)
When a WG identifies a need for a new specification or a revision
to an existing specification, it scopes the details in a SRP form and
agrees by consensus or vote.

The SRP is designed to improve the process by providing the
