We started our business in 2015 with absolutely no experience or

understanding of how to run a business. There were many tears,

failures, and learning lessons along the way to shape them into the
successful entrepreneurs they are today! We especially had no idea
how to price our murals. We reached out to other artists and
designers, but didn’t get any clarity what to charge. We hate
that...we believe it’s only benefits us all to be transparent about
pricing. So here we are!
Today, our business makes over $400k per year, and have painted
over 200 mural (40 being 5-figure mural jobs). We are able to
make six-figures doing what we love because we know our value
and we know how to sell to clients. We hope that in sharing this
pricing with you, you can find some clarity and start knowing your
worth. No undercharging for your work, what you do has value!
Mural pricing should be based on size, square foot (or meters). The pricing includes design time, client
correspondence, installation, supplies, and insurance (if you’re working on client property, you need to have
general liability insurance). It does NOT include special supplies (like a lift), or travel, or licensing of the artwork.

No hourly based pricing. No pricing a small fee upfront for designs. An all inclusive packaged rate is better for you
and the client. 50% upfront with a signed contract (don’t you dare start designing until you have those two
things) and 50% when you’re finished.

Basing your pricing off size is easy for the client to understand, bigger wall costs more money. It keeps your
pricing consistent and something to lean on. So if the client says their budget is smaller, you can just bring down
the square footage to accommodate.

Your prices should increase by at least a few dollars per square foot every 6 months or anytime you get really
busy. You’re getting more experienced which means your work has more value.
Beginner Muralists: Less than 20 murals or 1 year experience
$20 - $30 per square foot (plus extra expenses), $1,000 minimum
Extra Expenses:
Intermediate Muralist: 1 - 2 years experience (add the cost of this x2 to the price)

Advanced Muralist: 3 - 5 years experience - Travel

minimum client (anti-graffiti coating, etc)

Super Pro Muralists: You’re a big deal in the industry difficult
$60+ - $ No Limit $ per square foot, whatever minimum you want (if - Extra revisions
you don’t want to do any projects less than $10k...set it at that. You - Licensing
don’t want to do anything less than $50k, go for it! There is no limit!)
