Abstract

Online learning environment could be well understood as multifaceted phenomenon affected by


different aspect of learner’s participation including oral, written or personal participation. The aim of this
study was to investigate learner’s level of participation among Southland College SEAS Department of
A.Y 2021-2022. This study is anchored by Astin's Involvement Theory and Symbolic Interactionist
Theory in Education. This study utilized the descriptive research design using quantitative approach in
gathering information. The respondents of the study were the teacher education students of Southland
College currently enrolled in A.Y 2021-2022. A self-made questionnaire was administered via goggle
forms to find out the level of participation of students during online classes. The result shows that
Southland College students have high level of online class participation in the following areas; Oral,
Written and Personal Participation. However, there are some areas that students have low level of online
class participation such as communicating online in English and initiating question in class.
