DAILY OUTLINE OF TEACHING AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES* subject to change by the professor

SECTION SPECIFIC TEACHING AND LEARNING INFORMATION

Section Specific Outline:
This document expands upon the course outline and is developed by the course section faculty member. It
illustrates how topics and assessments map to learning outcomes, and details the section-specific evaluation
strategy, and the course expectations. It is provided to students through the College’s LMS (iLearn) at the
onset of each course section delivery and are to be reviewed with students during the initial class session. It is
the student’s sole responsibility to review this document as frequently as needed to ensure they are aware of
their daily activities, assignments and lab due dates, in addition to their quiz, test and exam dates.
Academic Integrity:
Academic integrity obliges honest and responsible conduct in all academic activity. Students who breach
academic integrity will be subject to disciplinary action as per the policy. The disciplinary action will reflect the
severity of the offence(s). Plagiarism is not tolerated, please find the academic policy and procedure:
Academic Integrity Policy and Procedure\PA-18 Academic Integrity Procedure-15.pdf
Attendance Expectations: Active Participation
Students enrolled at the College are expected to participate fully in their education which includes attending
classes, laboratory sessions and other course activities as scheduled and posted in section specific document.
Participation will be monitored and may contribute to any discretionary marks assigned for ‘Participation’.
Students are expected to be on time and on camera during attendance, in-class activities/evaluations and any
time when speaking to the instructor. Notify all absences to your instructor via e-mail minimal, 24-48 hours
prior.
i: Attendance and Testing:
Attendance is monitored and will be posted in iLearn/D2L. You should be aware that though grades are not
assigned for attendance, some activities in the class do make up part of your grade. If you are not able to
attend class, notification to your instructor by email is required 12 hours prior to your absence. Failure to
provide prior notice of absence will mean a student will not be eligible to write any graded work
(tests/assignments/exams etc.) due to that day’s absence and lack of notification. Do not arrive late for your
quiz/test/exam, arriving 10 minutes early for any evaluation is highly recommend. Failure to do so may result
in being unable to write the quiz/test/exam. All students must be on camera when writing an assignment,
quiz, test/ exam, failure to do so will result in a zero.
ii: Missed Quiz/Test/Exam:
As we are currently online, it is important for students to ensure they have strong and stable internet
connection when they are writing an evaluation. The Section Specific Outline, daily schedule is a great benefit
for students to plan ahead. It is the student’s responsibility to be on time and prepared for all evaluations and
classes. If you are unable to attend a quiz/test/exam due to an illness please review the policy and procedure
“extended absence” below. If you are unable to write a quiz/test/exam due to technical issues such as, poor
internet connection. Immediately take a photo of your technical issue and notify your instructor with said
proof. After review of the situation with the IT department, a re-test may be applicable if reasonable cause
has been recognized. If you do not submit the above notification and proof due to illness, lateness and or
technical issues, a mark of zero will be appointed to the student.
iii: Extended Absence (more than two classes)
If you must be absent from the course for an extended period of time, please inform the Professor in advance.
If your extended absence is due to illness, a Canadore@Stanford Doctor’s/Medical form must be submitted
within 72 hours of your first day of illness. Failure to provide notification of an extended absence within 72
hours will mean a student will not be eligible to write graded work (tests/assignments/exams etc.) missed
during the absence.
Assignments and late Submissions:
All Assignments (where applicable) should be in APA format and will be checked for plagiarism. Assessing your
progress on an ongoing basis is an important part of the learning process. As such, you are expected to submit
your work on time. In this course, the following policy will apply:
Late work WILL be accepted with 10% penalty.
WORK THAT IS MORE THAN 5 days LATE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED, AND A GRADE OF ZERO (0) WILL BE
ENTERED.

Academic Appeal:
Students with no outstanding debts or obligations to the College have the right to formally appeal a final grade
that impacts their academic standing or prevents progression through a program of study. Please see
Academic Appeal Policy and Procedure.

SECTION ATTENDANCE AND PUNCTUAITY REQUIREMENTS

Punctuality: Respectful Environment and Communication
You are expected to arrive in class on time. If you must arrive late, please inform your instructor personally via
e-mail. Continuous lateness is not advised and will be addressed accordingly. Please enter quietly and find
the nearest seat/ turn on your camera in a quiet and safe place. Do not disturb classmates or instructor. If a
guest speaker/ presentater or student presentations are taking place when you arrive, please wait for a logical
break in the presentations to enter the room. It is unfair that a student arriving late could impact the grade of
another student who is presenting his/her work.
Online:
When attending classes online please be sure to situate yourself in a safe and comfortable place: For example,
a quiet room in your house, turn on your camera as referred to in Attendance Expectations: Active
Participation. Joining classes from a workplace during working hours or a vehicle is not permitted. Due to
your own safety instructors will be asking you to leave the online class until it is safe to return. It is not
advisable to make a pattern of this as it is a breach, be mindful and respectful of everyone’s time.
Peer-to-Peer Learning:
Peer-to-peer learning is important throughout this course, and your support of others will be assessed. This
assessment will take place during the in-class activities and online discussion forums.

USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES

Personal Devices:
LAPTOPS/TABLETS ARE CONSIDERED AN ESSENTIAL RESOURCE FOR LEARNING, RESEARCH AND TAKING
NOTES. THEREFORE THE USE OF A PERSONAL DEVICE IN CLASS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Please ensure
your laptop and/or electrical device is working properly, strong and stable internet connection, prior to joining
your online classes.
The use of other electronic devices is not permitted in the classroom unless it supports classroom activities.
The Professor will identify situations where it is appropriate to make use of electronic devices. At all other
times, cell phones must be silenced or turned off during classes. If you are expecting an urgent call during class
time, please let the Professor know prior to the class, and set your phone to vibrate. When your call comes in,
please leave the room quietly to take the call.
Personal Devices Online: It is highly recommend you use a laptop camera for your virtual classes and only use
an alterative cellphone or iPad as a last option.

CLASSROOM CONDUCT EXPECTATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Mutual Respect:
Everyone’s opinion is valued and open dialogue is encouraged. When discussing topics in class, you should do
so in a manner that is respectful to everyone in the class. You should feel free to disagree with comments
made by your colleagues and to propose your point of view; however you should never attack the person
making the comments. Disrespectful and discriminatory comments will not be tolerated.
Online Etiquette:
If/when courses are being delivered online, students are required to follow and conduct themselves in a
respectful manner, following the same polices as if they were in a physical classroom. Online courses involve,
online discussions, group presentations, virtual lectures and more. It is expected that all students respect
others and their opinions, attend classes in a timely manner and remain in your virtual class until the professor
concludes the class, turn camera and mic on as instructed by professor and consider others privacy when
sharing information virtually. Any concerns should be written via e-mail to your instructor first, please see
student concern policy and procedure Student Concern Policy\Canadore@Stanford College - Student Concerns
Process .docx. Please abide by the respectful college community, safe college community and all related
human rights and harassment policies.
Textbooks:
The purchase of “Required Texts” (as designated on the Canadore course outline), is mandatory. Students are
responsible for purchasing a copy of the text or e-text and for bringing it to all classes. Evaluations drawn from
directly from “Required Texts” typically make up as much as 35% of the overall course marks. These
evaluations may consist of tests, assignments, case studies etc. Only students who have access to an individual
copy of a “Required Text” will be permitted to complete any in-class evaluations based on, or drawn from, the
text. Students will be supplied with a list of required texts for their programs, along with links to sites where
these may be purchased. Please note: only copies of texts acquired from legitimate sources may be used for
your studies. Candore@Stanford does not permit the use of illegal copies of texts, or texts acquired by any
non-lawful means.
