Some people need seven to eight hours of sleep a night. Some people need less than this, and some people
need more. Dr. Robert Schachter, a sleep expert, says that many people have difficulty sleeping, but they do
not know why. Most people know it is important not to drink coffee or tea before they go to bed because they
have caffeine and it keeps people awake. Stress can cause insomnia, too. Busy people with stressful jobs may
have difficulty sleeping at night. Dr. Schachter suggests ‘don’t use your bedroom as a TV room, use it for
sleeping only’. It is a good idea to get up and go to bed at the same time every day. It is also important not to
eat before bedtime- and if all this does not work, try counting sheep!
